Add on question....

Our home resort is VWL (June use year)... if we decided to add on points, is it best to get your same resort or more important to try to get close to your use year? This add on gets me confused... Say if you add on 50 OKW points, VWL is still your home... you do not get the 11 month window at OKW, is that correct?

Any help or advice you can throw my way would be appreciated.

The points have a home resort, you'll be able to reserve at the 11 month window only with the points from that single resort. You will get the 11 month window at OKW on those 50 points and you have the 11 month window at VWL with your VWL points. Both resorts points can be used at any resort at the 7 month window. Use year is only used to determine banking windows and has more to do with when you normally vacation. With a June use year, if you were to cancel a July reservation you'd be able to bank those points. If you were to cancel a May reservation it would be too late to bank any points.

Thank you - I believe I understand what you are saying... the 50 points have 11 priority at OKW while the original contract has the 11 month priority at VWL...

We own a BWV contract and BWV add-on for the same use year. We've thought about picking up contracts at the other resorts for the 11-month reservation privelage, but we've decided we'd rather keep it simple. We only have to think about one set of points for banking/borrowing and our reservation rights are the same for all points. I understand that reservations can be difficult to get at the 7-month window depending on the season, but we always have a great trip at BWV.

I believe that if you purchase your add-on through Disney, your add-on will have the same use-year your WLV points have, regardless of what resort you purchase. The only way around this is to either purchase a resale contract or buy another 150-point contract from Disney.

We also added on through Disney the year after we made our initial purchase. We started out with 230 points at OKW and added on 150 the following year, when we had the cash for it. We debated about adding those 150 at BWV (the only other resort available at that time), but decided we wanted to have all our eggs in one basket, so to speak. We still have the option to stay elsewhere at the 7 month mark, but we wanted to be able to use all of our points for a GV occationally, so it made sense to have all 380 at one resort.
