Add On Points

My DW is actually interested looking into a addon to our 150 VWL points. A couple of questions. Say I were to call our guide and tell him we'd like 50 more points, is there any chance we might could get them at VWL? If we did would we pay the same as if we got SSR points? Finally, does anyone know the cost of points right now (both at SSR and other DVC resorts)?

I did this in April, but at BWV. I did just what you said, called my guide and told him I wanted points at BWV...since these are sold-out resorts and there is no longer a waitlist, your guide will have to check the system for you regularly for points in your use year to come in to inventory. Once they do and he is able to grab them, he will charge your credit card (I think 20%). I paid $84/pt in April and I haven't seen any indication that the sold-out resorts would be going up. It took about a month for me to get the points and at the time I requested them, my guide wasn't too optimistic that they would come through but I wasn't in a rush and voila...I got the call! Good luck!!

Of course, you can always add-on through a resale, as well. We watched a resale website until a contract came up for the same resort with the same use year and the right number of points. It took a bit of waiting, but we did finally find what we needed.

Yea, I've been doing that. I saw 50 pts. come up for VWL a while back, but someone snapped it up pretty fast.

DVC still charges $84 per point at the sold out resorts, subject to availability. SSR is priced at $95 but you can get $10 off if you trade in first year points or $5 off if you keep them. I was told this ends on June 12th or 16th. No mention if they will extend it or replace it with some other promotion.

Personally, I would look for a resale and save the extra money.

Last week I talked to my guide and there were VWL points for Aug, April, June and another one, sorry can't remember which month (but it wasn't Feb. ....that's what I'm looking for)
