Add on points minimums

If you are an owner , then the add-on minimums are 25pts for most resorts and 50 for Riv or CCV if paying cash. If financing its 50 for everywhere.
If you are a new member the min is 125pts no matter what. I just went thru this for a friend who wanted to buy in but didn't want to do the 125 and was willing to no have a blue card. I went all the way up the line to Terri Schultz and was told that in Oct they changed it to 125 no matter what and nothing could be done to change that. She wanted to buy 100 points cash and they wouldn't take her $$. I was shocked
Just curious, but if your friend didn't care about the blue card then why not just buy resale? She could get a 100 point contract for a lot less than buying direct. Not to change the conversation, but I was just curious when I read that she didn't care about the blue card. That is a perfect situation for resale.

Unless they want to easily use points at all the current resorts and future ones, like the new DL one.

Yes, there is always the rent your own points route, but it’s not the same or as easy as owing your own.

I thought of that same situation...wanting to stay at RIV and other future resorts. If that is really important to someone, then the ease of owning the contract and just booking at those resorts (as opposed to having to rent) would matter for sure.

She wanted to be able to book any any resort with no restrictions and eventually wanted to add on more to get to the 125 for a blue card. She just didn't have the funds currently to do the 125 so she wanted to do 75 now and then add on more after. At that point level the $$ difference between resale and direct wasn't large enough to be that big of a savings. She also just wanted it to be quick and easy any not deal with ROFR and the months of waiting to close

Most resorts its 25 for cash and 50 to finance, RIV is 50 points no matter how one pays. I am not positive but I also think 50 is the minimum for CCV as well.

You can add on what you own or other resorts. It only counts as an add on though if it is the same UY with the same owners, If you want a different one, then it’s like buying it as a new owner and the minimum is higher.
Do you have any idea if the 50 point minimum will go away when the resorts sell out or is it here to stay?

I guess the idea is force people to buy more of the new resorts?

Yes! We paid $374.70 ($250 of that is document prep so that’s a flat rate no matter how many points you buy) for 35 AKV points a few weeks ago. It was definitely way cheaper years ago.
Yikes. So that adds $15/point when buying the minimum.. not ideal.

I think that will now be the new add on as we move forward with new resorts.
