Hey all!
Looking for your wisdom. We currently own at Boulder Ridge- we have enough points to have a 2 bedroom one year, and a studio the next. It is perfectly fine for us now, but as my kids get bigger I don’t know that for 4 of us will enjoy the togetherness a studio affords. Also, I like to have to option to bring company- a grandparent, a friend etc.

One additional note- my MIL owns at Boardwalk. For the time of year we need to travel, we can never get in there, and she can never get Into wilderness lodge.

so this is where I am torn- an additional contract at BR, copper creek, or boardwalk. The per point pricing for Boulder ridge is enticing to me, but the contract expiration for copper creek has me thinking- is this the contract I have for when I’m old and my kids are too cool for me?
Thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks

Sounds like your need for more points is short term and not long term, and 2042 is still 20 years off. None of us can predict when resale will really tank for the 2042s, but it sounds like the shorter contract is a good option.

I've had similar thoughts about if I need grandma SAPs, a shorter contract would do rather than something with a premium.

We are similar to you in how we started out, with our home at BRV (our favorite resort), with enough points for a 2BR during most of Fall Frenzy season (split between direct and resale), but quickly decided we wanted more flexibility to bring others but also stay longer or travel more often.

While our first add-on was AKV (our second favorite!), our strategy at the Wilderness Lodge was to add on at CCV. Admittedly we somehow timed it well, as we got the crazy direct incentives offered last summer and some great resale low offers accepted. But we decided CCV because:

(1) BRV and CCV are at the same resort, so a group trip even if people were split between the two was really staying at the same resort

(2) Longer expiration! Most importantly we realized that BRV was expiring when we were retiring, and while when we first bought in that seemed like a good plan (we wouldn’t have to pay dues into retirement) now we decided that was a bad plan, as we’d really like to keep going into retirement. We’ve honestly debated at times selling our BRV and rebuying more points at CCV, but we’ll see if we actually do that or not, since are wanting to wait and see if Reflections comes back.

(3) We could buy Fixed Weeks at CCV. We don’t plan to use them every year (in which case we just can use the points for when we do go), but it means I never have to worry about getting those weeks in Studios when we DO go (week 44 for runDisney Food & Wine, and weeks 46 & 47 for Thanksgiving (most years) and the week after for the Christmas holiday celebrations).
