Hi! I selected 'I added on because I need more points." OK, let's be honest, need may be a little strong; probably want is more like it. :rotfl2: Basically, I added enough points (just 1.5 months after my inital purchase) to go from a week + a day or 2 to 8-10 days plus a long weekend!

My next goal is to go from a studio to a 1 bedroom. Why? Because I really need to stay in a 1 bedroom during my solo trips right? :lmao:

Next thing you know... You'll be needing... really needing that King bed. :rotfl: Hey Deb.

I added on because we wanted to own at AKV. We sold our OKW points to finance it, though so I am really down 130 points to 300. We're awaiting CRV to get back to 400.

DVC was something I bought cautiously. We bought in at the minimum amount we thought we'd use to make sure we were comfortable with being owners and making the payments.

After a year, we looked at what we realistically wanted in terms of vacations (views ended up being a much bigger deal to me than I anticipated) and added on to get to that point. :goodvibes

I'd still love an extra hundred points or so - so that we could treat friends and family on a regular basis, but we've got as many points as we need for our own use. :thumbsup2

I've added on once-actually my husband added on when he gave me 25 points for my birthday two years ago. The next time we add on is when CRV goes on sale!

I said I didn't want to add on. We only have 100 points and that seems to work great for us.

I am interested in CRV though.

We added on at OKW because we fell in love with it, then AKV came along...so we sold our original VWL points and added on at AKV.

We, too, started w/the minimum to see how it would work.

Addonitis hit us hard and fast...we've added on three times in 14 months...we now have more than double the number of points we started with (150 to 415)--

Partially we "needed" the points (I agree that it's a stretch to call it "need"!)...partially, the incentives made it irresistable (friends & family $15 per point discount last January, and double developer points last month), and partially because my college-age son REALLY wanted a small stake in BCV (we own most of our points at SSR, which we love, and a small sliver (50) at BCV)...lastly, each add-on came soon after I finished paying off the 0% interest balance on my 0% interest credit cards...so far, I haven't paid any interest on the money I used to acquire my add-on's...I honestly think that having to finance would keep me from adding on...

After each add-on I thought, "OK, now we're set"...and then I burned through those points so fast it made my head spin and I was back to "needing" more...this time, my feeling of "we're set" has lasted longer (3 whole weeks!), so maybe just maybe we really are ok on our number of points?

Initial purchase was at Boardwalk in 2000. In late 2002 we added on 100 points at Vero Beach. Two reasons. 1) My in-laws aren't WDW people. They prefer a beach vacation and we had already sent them to Vero for 5 nights using our Boardwalk points and they loved it. So the add on was to give us more points but also be able to give them a beach vacation every now and then. 2) Between our first purchase and this one prices had gone up but the incentive at the time was having Vero go for the same price ($65/pp) that we paid at Boardwalk.

We added on at AKLV because I love that resort and also wanted to be able to book concierge at the 11 month window, knowing that availability would be limited. Our initial purchase was at OKW. For those of us who bought over 10 years ago, at least for my family, my focus has changed. We had four children at the time who are now grown- we needed a larger place to stay at WDW that would be more affordable...and nice. Now I'm thinking of grandchildren and what I will leave for my children as an inheritance, and thinking of how many points to leave each child so they can enjoy DVC with their families as much as we did when they were younger. If I can afford it, I'm sure there will be more add-ons to come just to accomplish that goal. ---Kathy

We own 160 points at SSR and would like to add on but haven't yet. We have a couple things we want to pay off and then we said we'd reward ourselves with an add-on, hopefully by then at CRV!

I added on at OKW after staying there in November 2005. I had planned to make that my fall vacation and keep BWV for spring and the Flower and Garden Festival. Since then I have only stayed in the fall once at OKW. So you never know, plans do change! This October I will be at BWV and will enjoy the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot.

I added on because I wanted more points of VWL and I wanted points at AKL, another resort, so I voted other. If I could have voted both 1 and 2, I would have.

We bought BWV first figuring it would hold it's value because of the demand. Little did I know that I'd love the place, I'd never stayed there or taken a tour of it before we purchased.

Only a few months later we added points at VWL, one of our favorite resorts.

When AKV was announced, be added points the first day it was possible to buy. AKL has always been our favorite resort of all and was the reason we didn't buy into DVC sooner! We really hated to give up vacations at AKL.

Now we have enough points. More than enough, I think. Before we'd add on again I'd have to sit down and figure out how many points we think we can use in retirement for spending part of our winter each year in Florida. If we need more, we'd buy more.

We were planning on adding in in Sept but the Developer Point deal was a no brainer for us so we jumped a bit early.

If CRV does eventually happen we'll do another one there but then that will probably be it.

I added-on because I needed more points..I started w/the minimum (at the time) 150 points...After my 1st trip home (SSR) I decided to add-on 50 more...I can do every other trip in a 1 bedroom this way....And I don't have to always go Sun-Thurs now.

bought BCV in 2002. Added on 100 points more 4 months later. We're done. No need to add on anymore.

We added on nine times, so it was really for two reasons.. We wanted more points at our original resort, and wanted another resort. :smokin:

We've added on 9 times as well... to add points at other resorts to get the 11-mos home resort booking advantage.
