Add on direct

Hi. I have read about purchasing resale and then adding on direct with the minimum 25 points to get membership extras. If purchasing the direct points at a different home resort how does the reservation process work? I am in the process of my resale contract at BWV but may be interested in buying direct VGF.

You can combine points for 7 month reservations.

To expand, you would only be able to book VGF at 11 months with the VGF points. Any other approach would tumble the apple cart that is the economics of DVC points. You could not use the VGF points to book at BWV at 11 months, or the BWV points at 11 months at VGF. At 7 months, you could only swap points if the reservation could be made on that day, from scratch.

Just being an owner at VGF does not allow you to book there 11 months out. you must have enough VGF points to pay for the reservation. I do not own VGF but if I arranged for a VGF owner to transfer VGF points into my account, I could use them to book VGF 11 months out.

Check out the Rent/Trade board here on the DIS: http://www.disboards.com/forums/dvc-rent-trade.29/ You cannot post a thread asking for a transfer but you can respond to threads where a member is offering to transfer points.

DVC members can transfer points into or out of their DVC account once per UY. Unless you transfer in points that are an exact match (same resort, same UY) with a contract you already own, MS must track the transferred points manually, meaning you will not see them in your account and cannot use them to book online. You will have to call MS when you want to use the transferred points to make a reservation.

To be honest you might find it a pain trying to sue 25 VGF points For that small a contract might be best to get same resort.

You will be able to use your VGF points at 11 months but 25 will only book a studio for 1 night and they are high demand otherwise you will have to wait until 7 months.
