Add-on Cost Increase Now in Effect for AKV & SSR

I just got off the phone from talking with my Guide about adding on some AKV points. He said that the incentives changed as of Sunday 8/30/09 on add-on contracts. For 50 points or more, the incentive is $10 off the $112 price, making the final price $102/point. This rate applies to 100 and 125 point add-ons as well. The old rate for 50-point add-on contracts was $13 off (resulting in $99/point), and $19 off 100 point contracts (resulting in $93/point). My Guide mentioned that there was still the Disney Visa Rewards incentive on AKV add-ons, but I did not ask him any specific questions about that offered. He also mentioned that SSR's current prices were the same as AKV.

My Guide confirmed that BLT's price is going up to $120 a point in October.

***I also asked him if there was any truth to the "Magical Beginnings" rumor as reported on dvcnews.com, but he knew nothing about it.***

DVCNews.com keeps a page updated with new member and current member pricing. There is a note on the page stating that they are still trying to get the most recent changes.

$102 net PP ($112 - $10) is what we paid for our 50-pt add-on in March, so this is just a return to spring pricing. However, in March we got leftover 2008 points

I thought DVC was trying to slow down sales of BLT. How on earth does that accomplish this? I was on the fence of a small add-on between AKV and BLT. BLT looks better at this point.

Sorry for the dumb question, but if you buy an add on through Disney directly, do you pay closing costs? If so, how much (for a 50 point contract, for example). Oh, and if I have BWV, does that mean I can only purchase a BWV add on?

Disney does not charge closing costs on add-on contracts. The only thing you pay for is the points themselves. Resale contracts always have closing costs. They are usually paid by the buyer of the resale contract, but this can be a negotiable item between the buyer and seller. Once you are a DVC member, you can buy an add-on contract from any DVC resort.
