Hello

This is our first time at Disney with two 5 year olds and a 6 year old. We will be arriving on November 20th at noon and have a 6 day park hopper for November 21-26th.

We are staying at the Beach Club. Would it make sense to add an extra day pass to go to the park on the 20th or walk the boardwalk and maybe Downtown Disney

Thanks

Personally, I would make it a resort/DTD day to take advantage of Stormalong Bay. Or maybe go to a park that arrival day, and take a day off mid-week so you get some rest.

I would go to a park but my kids are older. I'm not sure if yours would be worn out. It doesn't cost much to add another day. Also if it's a Christmas party day, that might be a good idea instead of a regular park day.

Staying at Beach Club, yes, I would add the extra day. We typically stay at EP resorts and typically arrive mid to late afternoon. We love going in EP, doing a few attractions and having dinner. Adding that ticket will only cost you about $50 for your whole family. Well worth it IMHO

For me it would depend on how long of a day you've had before that. Are you getting up at 3 having a 3 hour flight to get there by noon? If that's the case I'd have a low key resort day with a swim and a nap, remember chances are no one is going to sleep well the night before. If you're getting up at your normal time and have had a nice, easy drive then I might consider an afternoon at WS since it's right there and isn't over stimulating so hopefully everyone can get some sleep that night and start the trip rested.

I would add an extra day. As others have said, it doesn't cost that much extra. That being said, it also depends on your touring style. We are not "all day at the park" kind of people. We prefer to go for four or five hours in the morning, then a few hours at night, so heidi g to one of the parks for a bit after dinner would be right up our alley.

It really depends on you. We always have a park ticket for every day we are at WDW, especially since it's only a few dollars per person, like $11 or so. We will be arriving at 1pm on the 15th and will be heading to Epcot.

We usually arrive at the BC by noon and always go into Epcot for lunch. It is a five minute walk, so why not? And adding a day to 6 day park hopper is really cheap. The only time we don't go to a park on arrival day is if we arrive after 5pm.

You can always wait until you arrive and make the decision then. If the weather is gorgeous you might to go swimming instead.

I would add it, we drive down and get there around 3 or 4, even when DS was 3 we would still go to a part just for awhile.

Thanks Everyone!

Are we able to add another day when we arrive for no up-charge so we can decide that day?

Sure can. You can add it at any park guest relations. As others said, it is only about $10 more a person to add a day to multi day park hoppers. In the scheme of things, it's a deal! Even if you spend half a day.

The only other thing is if you add it before you go, you can book FP+ ahead of time. If you try to get them day of you will have fewer choices. (MK usually has the best FP availability since it has so many rides).

How exciting! Your first family trip and you are going during Thanksgiving! Many of the Christmas decorations will already be up. It will be extra special for your first family Walt Disney World visit.
Only you know your family and your children. I would have a hard time not going to the parks on my very first day. It really depends on you but I could see adding a day and heading over to Epcot after you check in and have lunch. I'd recommend Hurricane Hannah's for lunch. We recommend the burgers! The kids love the meals that are served in sand pails too! You can grab your lunch and take a look at Stormalong Bay. At this point my children would start begging to go for a swim no matter what the weather! If your kids aren't big swimmers or it is too chilly for your taste to swim it is a quick walk to Epcot through the International Gateway. I would spend the afternoon walking around World Showcase enjoying the holiday story tellers. You could even head to the Mexico pavillion and ride the Gran Fiesta Tour without a FastPass. That ride doesn't usually have large lines. Whatever you do take it easy that afternoon and enjoy just being at Walt Disney World. You will have a very busy and fun week ahead of you!
One last thing - because it is Thanksgiving week it is a very busy week at Walt Disney World. You will want to make sure you have ADR's planned for your sit down meals and make sure to book all of your FP+ as soon as you are eligible. If you don't already have a subscription, you might want to look into touringplans.com, I swear by their plans! We go to the parks on the busiest of days and my family hardly evens knows it!
Hope that helps!

We are going in February with a 2 and 5 year old, arriving at Pop around noon. My advice is to stay at the resort and walk around. You'll have to eat lunch once you check in, then once you walk past the pools, I think the kids will want to swim. Plus, you'll all be in bed by 8-830 probably so that's not a lot of time in a park. If they were teenagers on a return trip, then I'd say yes, go to a park.

I would add the extra day. The extra cost is so low and from the BC it is very easy to get to Epcot or DHS.

If you make FP+ reservations for whichever park you visit you can get 3 good attractions in at a low cost.

Maybe consider taking the boat over to DHS, getting FPs for TSMM and 2 other things of your choice, and getting a first look at the Osborne Lights. That would still let you get back to the resort for an early bedtime.

With smaller kids I would welcome the opportunity to spend just a few hours in a park. When our kids were that age we found that they handled the parks better in 4-5 hour doses.

I wouldn't be able to resist being so close to Epcot and not go the first day. We stayed at the Yacht Club, arriving at the resort around one. It was a beautiful warm day in February and the kids were dying to go in the pool after coming from frigid NYC. We spent a couple hours there and then headed to the park for dinner and a ride or two. It was a great start to our vacation. My kids were 8,6, and 2 and they were fine, despite getting up very early that morning.

I always buy as many days tickets as we are in the World, but we generally do not enter a park that first day. THE BC is great resort to relax and enjoy your arival day. If you decide to avoid EPcot you could have lunch at Beaches and Cream, relax at the pool, and then stroll around the Boardwalk.you have the best of both Work=lds now, and for that slight fee can do what works for your family..

we are making it a downtown disney day and a resort hop day. going to all the different resorts looking at the christmas decorations and then going to downtown disney to hang out and eat at either Trex or rainforest

We are going in Dec and arrive at 10 am in the morning and will be touring DTD or some of the resorts since they will have decorations up....maybe that is something you could do is check out some of the decorations.

I would add the extra day - you are going during a very crowded time of the year, and it will get more crowded as the week goes on.
