Adam Walsh's 1981 murder solved!!!!

They always knew it was him. I am glad its "official"

10 years after the creep confesses on his deathbed...the niece comes forward with that info????? Wonder what took her so long...

I hope it brings some comfort to the walsh family.....

That's what I was thinking!! All those long years she could have helped bring closure to the Walsh family. What a hoo-hoo!! :confused3

Ugh. That murder has always haunted me. I am a bit younger than Adam would be, but I remember watching the TV movie with my mom...:sad1:

In the article, it doesn't say when the niece told Mr Walsh. She may have told him years ago? They've known for years it was him, today is just when the PD considers the case closed? Just a thought.

Probably b/c I have boys, but looking into those precious eyes make me cry-for him and his family.

The article said, the Uncle confessed on his Death bed.. He died over a decade ago. So how did it come out now? :confused3

I just hope that this man who claims he did it then denied it then admitted then denied then admitted once again, on a death bed... Truely did do it and that some other sicko isn't still out there lurking or killing

Blessings to Walsh, their family & their friends :grouphug:

Adam was the same age as me - I read in John Walsh's book how two of Adam's favorite things were baseball and Star Wars, and that broke my heart because those were two of my favorite things at the time too.

I don't really remember when happened, but I do remember it mostly because it was from that point we got lot more warnings about strangers, and our parents were being a lot more protective of us whenever we went out.

And as kids we were really bothered by the TV movie, I remember my class being freaked out by it. To this day, whenever my sister sees a kid wandering unsupervised in a store, she says "Didn't they see Adam??"

I wrote a paper about the Missing Children's Act in college, so I've followed the case for a long time. Glad to hear it's finally closed.

Not a lawyer bit, in a court of law, under the Hearsay laws, a person can't suddenly state someone said something before they died, if there are no other witnesses to corroborate. Otherwise you can say a dead person said/confessed anything, and he's not around to defend himself. Maybe the niece was alone with him when he said that. The facts are too sketchy from that article.

Atleast so much good has come out of a horrible situation. Adam has saved many lives.
God bless the Walshes:goodvibes

She apparently told a detective about it not long after he died. It's mentioned in John Walsh's book, which was published in 1997. Apparently Toole also told a nurse something, but because they couldn't use what he told her due to confidentiality laws.

this case has bothered me my entire life. i was a very little girl when his kidnapping happened and it scared me...a lot. to this day, as a mother of 2 young daughters, i remember the movie and don't take my eyes off of them. i'm glad the walsh family has closure now

This is from CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/12/16/walsh.case.closed/

"The chief apologized to the boy's parents, John and Reve Walsh, for what he called "lapses" in the initial investigation. He added that there was no "magic" piece of evidence that led investigators to officially name a suspect now.

"This case could have been closed, and should have been closed years ago," Wagner said.

When he took over last year as police, Wagner vowed to close the Walsh case. He reviewed the entire case file and assigned a retired detective, Joe Matthews, to conduct an independent review... [ ]

...Toole twice confessed to killing the boy -- and twice recanted his story, saying he made it up. It could not be learned what, if any, new evidence exists."

They never got back Adams head did they? Will they get it back now for a burial?

That's great to hear. Adam Walsh is an amazing man and dedicated his life to the love of his son. That's my kind of guy!:thumbsup2

Sorry, we agree on many things, bu I disagree on this. It seems to me that he has made a fortune for himself by capitalizing on his son's tragic murder.
