Adam Walsh's 1981 murder solved!!!!

This only happened an hour south of where I live, so this was always a close case to my heart, even though it happened long before I was born.

As glad I am that this was solved, I'm a little miffed that it took so long to figure out that it was Otis Toole. More high-profile abduction stories come out of Florida than anywhere else (at least from my observation) and they have not had the sense to improve their handling of these cases. This has been a problem under many different gubernatorial administrations (Republican and Democrat). I mean, I could be wrong, but that is my view. Thank God Adam Walsh's family finally has closure.

I'm glad someone posted this; I was just about to do a search and post it myself!

I remember reading John Walsh's book when I was 13 or 14, back in 1995/96. My brother was 3 or 4, and I'd often volunteer to look after him when my mother took us out shopping. This story petrified me, so I told my brother that if we were ever separated, to scream as loud as he could if anyone tried to take him away. I watched him like a hawk all the time.

This only confirms what they knew. In a NY case they also think they know the killer, who since died. They have never found the body of Etan Patz. My son was little when Etan disappeared in lower Manhattan on his way to schools and that one hit home for me.

Sorry, we agree on many things, bu I disagree on this. It seems to me that he has made a fortune for himself by capitalizing on his son's tragic murder.

Ummmm WOW...that's pretty harsh. :sad2: This man (and his wife) were obviously DEVASTATED by their son's murder. They chose to DO SOMETHING to bring awareness to Missing Children. As a close friend of someone whose child was missing and later found murdered....I can only hope that a parent who has suffered this kind of tragedy can help others....:confused3 It is the way the Walsh's dealt with their grief. I find it very hard to judge people who have lost their child (including my husband)~people do what they need to do to cope. The Walsh's "did good":thumbsup2

That is one of the sickest things I have ever read on these boards. :confused3 John Walsh is a kind and caring man who has devoted his life to helping others and to putting terrible criminals behind bars. So frickin' what if he's made some money in the process. John Walsh is a great man who has never hurt anyone, just helped.

You might want to do an examination of your money beliefs and associations. Sounds like you have created a negative association where making money for oneself automatically makes someone unable to do good at the same time, or be a good person (with a lot of money.) :scratchin

If this is true, any time you start making "too much" money yourself, you will fire off this negative association, unconsciously thinking you are/will become a bad person, a selfish person, a self-serving person, etc. As people will not consciously move toward becoming what they loathe, you will most likely do things to sabotage yourself from having the money. Thus, keeping yourself a "good person," or "unselfish person," etc., and staying in your monetary comfort zone.

A friend says this quote a lot, "That which you criticise, you can not have."
If you are critical of successful people, you will not be successful, yourself. If you criticise people with money, you will not have it.

I can give you a long list on many people who have a wealth of money, and the good things they've done on the planet. (But this thread isn't about that.) It's because I'm always consciously on the lookout for people with a ton of money who DO do good. So I have many positive references & associations, as that's the kind of person I aspire to be myself, and the kind of work I want to do.

If John Walsh is one of those people, I'll have to add him to my list. :thumbsup2 I previously thought of him only as someone who has turned a nightmarishly tragic situation around to help other children's lives & to put murderers away. If he has been able to make more than enough money to take care of himself & his family in the process and to be able to further his good work with that money, more power to him! :woohoo:

I'm glad the family has the closure they needed. I always admire how the Walsh's turned their personal grief into something beneficial for us all.

John Walsh and his wife are true American heroes. Instead of letting tragedy destroy them, they have fought to make the world a safer place, not only for children, but for everyone. They were instrumental in passing federal laws that made it easier to share information on missing children and on suspects.

For all the Walsh's have done for other families I'm so happy they finally have an answer.

They found the head, but not the body. It remains missing to this day.

I believe LovinPooh meant they never got it back from the police to bury.
Which I do believe is the case.

I remember watching a special a few yrs ago where a close family friend spoke about being the one to identify the remains. The Walshes were appearing on national TV (in NY on the Today Show I believe) when Adams head was found. It still haunted the man over 20 yrs later.

It's so tragic what happened to Adam Walsh, but thinking of all that has been done over the past 27 years in tracking and capturing dangerous pedifiles there has to be hundreds of children's lives spared because of the work done in Adam's memory by John Walsh.

May his soul rest in peace. I can't ever imagine the pain of losing a child and having them killed in such a horriffic way, and how Reve, his mom, has lived with the guilt of "losing him" at Sears that fateful day he was snatched up by this monster.

I was pregnant with my oldest when I saw the TV movie... and I think that is what made me such a cautious parent. Shame they had to wait so long, and a shame that parents still leave their kids in the toy department alone. :sad1: I'm glad the family has closure.

Maybe he has made a fortune, but I bet you anything he'd take his son back and give it all up in a heartbeat.

I'm glad they finally got closure. And John Walsh has been a strong advocate for the victims ever since... And his viciousness towards those who harm children should make any of those criminal animals turn themselves in IMMEDIATELY!!!

It may be hard but maybe God took Adam Home for a reason.....

I agree. He seems like such a kind and compassionate person. It must have been hard for him not to want to die himself when he first heard what happened to his son. Instead, he focused on helping other people. What an incredible person he is.

I will never ever believe that the brutal beheading of a six year old child was ever part of any plan. God is God and he can choose another way

Praise God!

I'm so thankful poor Adam's family can have closure and peace after all their years of heartache and pain.

I'm glad the case will be closed. But I would still wonder what happened to Adam's body?

Please lets not turn this thread into a debate.
