Adam Lambert

Love Adam Lambert, here. He is playing New Years Eve about 1 hour drives from my house at Winstar Casino in Oklahoma. Should be a great show, but spent all my money on Disney and Christmas this month.

That's what made my friend's free tickets so great! :goodvibes

DD and I saw he was coming and wanted to go but wasn't sure if tickets were in the budget.

I have seen Adam live, but only on the Idol tour. I felt really bad for Chris Allen (who never should have won anyway) but they performed in the order of their finish. So Adam was second to last, and Chris was last. Adam electrified the building, people went crazy, then Chris came on, and it all just kind of fizzled.
He also lights up Glee when he is on. That show has gotten so bad, but when he is on the screen, it's all good again :-).

I have to disagree here. While I believe Adam is the more exciting raw talent, in the closing weeks of that season Chris consistently whooped him. Based on the actual performances (as opposed to voting on potential), the voters got it right :thumbsup2

Well, we know there must have been a lot of Chris fans because he did win Idol. But you are actually the first one I know of. :rotfl2:

And I will have to disagree with you. I felt like Chris' performances got worst as the season continued. He seemed kind of lost and he sounded the same to me all the time. He was completely overshadowed by Adam. I really felt embarrassed for him when he won.

I won a bunch of money betting against Adam on Idol because I've always known how the show shakes down and it's never been about talent or performance. It was great being darn near the only person who wasn't surprised that night. :lmao: There's a video of all my friends freaking out and me just laughing maniacally because I had told them so.

For the record, Kris Allen is a sweet guy, his wife and kid are adorable, and I'm glad he didn't die in that car crash he was in last year. :thumbsup2

I've only seen snippets of "Glee", just not a show we're interested in. But I will have to see if I can check out his "audition" episode to hear him sing, I'm sure I would enjoy that.

I'm so behind on watching Glee - I think I have this whole season on my DVR to catch up on - so I just found the audition performance on YouTube. Now I want to go home & have a Glee-a-thon. Gee, maybe that's what I'll do for NYE. =)

Anyhow, here's a link to the YouTube clip (er... full performance)

PS, love Brent & Josh, too! That pic always makes me smile.

I actually didn't watch Idol that season. I saw Adam on something else, I guess right after he lost out and was amazed that he didn't win.

I, honestly, have never heard of Chris Allen.

Didn't Daughtry lose AI too? Who won the season he was on?

Daughtry didn't even make runner-up in his season, I think he was 4th place in season five.

I know too much about American Idol for someone who watched it for exactly two years. :confused3

I wouldn't call myself a "Chris fan", I just saw what the judges and voters saw. Adam peaked too early and in the closing weeks was just throwing in the ridiculous high note for the sake of throwing it in, not because it actually fit the song. You may remember Simon calling him out on it. And on two occasions, Chris did what nobody else did that season - sang a song I hated, and made me like it.

But; that's why Adam has done better since. He has pros guiding him now in the studio and they know how to take advantage of his raw talent and shape it appropriately.

I think the last time I actually watched the whole season was when Clay Aiken didn't win.

Actually Simon was shocked that Kris won and he didn't stand up with the other judges and clap when the results were read. Kris was shocked as well and said that Adam deserved to win.

Then there was the A T&T texting scandal that happened during the finale where Kris supporters were taught how to vote multiple times with a single text. :rolleyes1

I know he was shocked at the outcome, but he was also highly critical of Adam in the closing weeks. If one was keeping score, Adam won the "season", but he wasn't the best in the closing weeks when it mattered. The best team "all year" doesn't always win the Suoer Bowl, either.

Simon seems to have mellowed a lot or at least he does on the X Factor.

DD just played Kris's performance of Heartless (one of my favorite songs, even though I dislike Kanye immensely :rotfl:). I don't know that I would agree that he did better than Adam. But, then I didn't watch the whole season.

IMO, "Ain't No Sunshine" won it for him, though that was obviously a repeat by finals week.

I don't care for the new "softer" Simon on X Factor. His departure from AI has had the outcome I think most anticipated.

I like his being a bit softer when he is talking to young kids. He could be so harsh before. He can still be pretty hard in the auditions though.

No matter what, there is no doubt the man usually knows what he is talking about. He is a smart man when it comes to musical talent.
