Ad-aware FYI

Ad-aware has updated their great spyware detection software, and now have the reference updater built in. If interested, here is their site. If you want it, go to downloads.

I just downloaded and did a scan. I have been using Ad-aware 5.83. Version 6 found 26 files more to be be purged!!!!

It works great. I downloaded it yesterday and got 72 files to be purged.

Make sure that you check for AdAware reference file updates often. They seem to be adding new spyware every couple of days. Since I installed it last week, there have been 2 or 3 updates.

I ended up deleting some unnecessary stuff off my pc i think after fooling around with this thing...I should stay away from things I don't understand... still couldn't get the internet when i left(unless of course that it was a zoom town problem.. )

I'm not computer savvy at all- but this seems like a really good idea. Does it matter which site I choose? Is one right for a certain computer or anything? Sorry to ask such dumb questions- but I'm always afraid I'm gonna screw up the computer.

Thanks for the FYI Dan...DH just downloaded the new version, and it got rid of 32 items!

Luvdzny even with a firewall, you should install it. Certainly can't hurt!

I agree, firewall or not, this won't hurt! I am behind a firewall and I still have it just in case. A firewall isn't necessarily 100% perfect for preventing hackers from getting into your computer.

Mermaid, it won't matter where you download it from. Some sites are just quicker than others. That and if one web site is down, then you have others to chose from.
