Actual Poll- NO DW if NO FD?

Will you go to DW if there is no FD?

  • I have not booked yet, but will book without FD anyway

  • I have not booked yet, and will not book without FD

  • I will book/have booked, but will downgrade my trip if there is no FD

  • I have booked, and will cancel my trip if no FD

  • I will book/have booked- I will NOT downgrade my trip if there is no FD

We are going in July with a 40% military discount and if free dining doesn't come out we will still be going. If we got the 25% discount we would still be going with a dining plan or without. I would only take the free DP if it was QS any way. I have budgeted in the money for food as I always do. I do bring some breakfast things to the hotel tho because some of my kids like breakfast and some don't.

Voted.

BTW, we're going anyway. If the FD offer does not come out, I just won't eat for the 8 days. I'll be hungry, but I'll be hungry at the happiest place on earth! ;)

:rotfl2: LOL!

I guess this would be "downgrade"....if no FD we will likely still visit Orlando(but Universal/SW/Busch/Aquatica is also on the table) BUT we will definitely not stay on WDW property.
We are a family of 5 with older kids, so no WDW options are low cost options for us. FD is the only way I can justify the cost of spending that much on a room (or two rooms). We would rent a nearby condo instead, and then eat at a few of our fav QS and TS as well as fill in with stuff from our "home" kitchen.

Looking at the poll it looks like its almost 50/50 with 50% saying they will not book, will cancel or will downgrade without FD and 50% say they're going no matter what.

As a guess I would expect people who are booking the Deluxes and have the 40% off will go without FD as the savings is minimal. For those of us who can only afford a Value resort FD can mean a make or break situation even with the 20% off Values pin.

I think this poll is a bit skewed because some are reporting summer time trips. I think most are referring to fall trips, late August through early October. FD has never been very common during summer months. Isn't the kids eat free deal rather new for this summer?

Maybe some, maybe even most, but not all. We have only ever stayed at the values. We save for 2 years to be able to afford it. This year is our year and we are going no matter what. We have the money saved to pay rack rate, though we'd rahter not, if we need to we will. We only go on vacation every 2 years and this is the last time we will with DD15 as by the next time our vacation rolls around she will be in college and won't be able to miss school. We drive, can't afford to fly so she can't go for a small part of the trip. So, we are going. Sure, we could use that money for 2 smaller trips but this makes us happy and is why we as a family save so much. So while we may not have as much spending money when we get there as we will if there is a discount code, we will still be there no matter what. But, if Disney would like to offer me a deal, I will take it, and I may even use the savings to buy myself a hoddie like I have been wanting for the last 10 years.

I just hope there is SOME type of offer we can use. We do like FD but would work with whatever we can get. We really want to go. May stay offsite instead if no good deal.

We will be booking in the next week or so regardless of a FD pin or not. It's our vacation and we were planning it this way before I even thought about it being around the same time as FD came out last year!

Can't wait to go!!!

I am booked for my usual week November 27th through December 4th; trip is booked and paid for, so free dining doesn't even cross my mind.

Booked and have been making small regular payments for more than 6 months. If free dining does not come out (or a decent discount) then our trip will change. That covers a multitide of scenarios. Maybe offsite and split time between Disney/Universal maybe downgrade, or move the trip up to November or early December.
There will still be a trip.. just a different one. And that's o.k. now that I have wrapped my head around the posssibilty of No Free Dining. It means I get to plan more.. and I am a bit of a freak and actually find the planning fun:lmao:

It would kinda work out better for me if there were no free dining because free dining people get in my way at restaurants. ;)

We are going 8/30 for 6 nights and plan to stay at a value resort, and will most likely buy the dining plan if FD is not offered. We loved using the dining plan the past 2 trips. I have booked our flights, and made our adrs, and am waiting until some specials come out to book our hotel. Hoping the first MNSSHP is the friday 9/3 too, and we'll do that. Free dining would be the best discount for us, with kids stay and play free the next best, but I'll be happy with any discount.

I have already booked and will not cancel or change my reservation in any way. We are coming all the way from Australia and already have our airline tickets so we are going FD or not. I would prefer another type of discount to apply to our reservations (we have two, split stay)

Ditto here, since we're going in March, and free dining isn't that great of a discount!

For our party of 4 with a 7 night stay free dining would save us $1176 in the value season. That to me is a great discount! The only discount I have ever seen that could be better for some would be 40% off Deluxes. We stay at Value resorts. I do not know of any other promo Disney has had recently which would save us more. Do you?

Yeah, that is good! We're only two people, and since we stay Deluxe, would MUCH prefer a room discount.

I voted will go no matter b/c we always go free dining or not, but that being said we had a flood at our house this weekend and DH mentioned having to cancel the Sept trip to do some remodeling b/c of the flood. Insurance will cover to replace everything back to normal but we are considering expanding the kitchen while everything is alread torn up. We shall see, but FD coming or not really won't have any impact on that decision.

I voted that we have not booked and would not be going w/o the FD offer, but we just got the 30/35/40 PIN and booked a 2 week split stay trip - first week at POP, second week at Poly. With the split stay, we can save even more money if the FD offer comes out on the first reservation, but we are going either way with this PIN.
