I'm leaning heavily towards a direct flight next Oct on JB from Newburgh NY, so I've been tracking rates and flight times as far into the future as their posted schedule goes. Nearer to the present date, the flight, 575, leaves at 7 am or sooner, which is fine with us. At the far end of the schedule, in June, it's 8:55 am, not as desireable. I'd probably take the 8:55 if that's all they have, but I'm wondering if JB schedules this at that time but changes it to the earlier time at a later point. My confirmation from this Oct trip indicates that I reserved in Feb, so I still have time to consider options, I'd like to hear from folks who have taken this flight in the past as to the actual flight time.

Thanks,

If you go here you can see the history of this flight. You can explore other flight numbers and see how it averages with delays and on-time performance.

Empirical data is better than subjective opinion.

Good information but doesn't answer the OPs question. The OP is trying to project JBs schedule and determine the time of the first flight to MCO. The question isn't if a scheduled flight is on time but rather what flights JB will be scheduling next October.

There isn't any way to know. Airlines change their schedules seasonally. Airlines are reducing the number of flights to destinations which only sell with discounted fares.

(Very) old logic. Next Octobers (fall) schedule should be similar to this Octobers (fall) schedule.

CURRENT logic. There isn't any guarantee JB will even offer a morning flight from SWF to MCO. You want to start planning? Accept the fact that flights from EWR and JFK might work better price wise and schedule wise. I'm not sure where you live. ALB and PHL might even work.

You want to start planning. Decide how early a flight you can book from the other cities, without needing an overnight stay at an airport hotel. Look at park n fly rates and airport hotels.

I just re-read your OP. I doubt JB will schedule the flight at 8:55, accept reservations and then re-schedule the flight at 7a.

Thanks for the replies, if JB offers a flight from SWF I'll probably just go with it. Newburgh, Newark and PHL are all pretty much equidistant, we've gone from PHL numerous times in a variety if ways, sleep 'n fly, driving to a mid-day flght, parking in the PHL lot and driving in the wee hours, dropping the car at Winner. My problem with EWR is the drive to and from. My Magellan GPS actually got us lost several times getting out of there last month.

Newburgh seems to be a more pleasant drive, less urban, and what I think we'll do is drive there in plenty of time to park the car and just fly out, no sleep 'n fly. I'd prefer an early flight, but since it will be Food&Wine time, if we get to WS anytime before noon on the first day, a Thurs., I'll be happy. The R&C doesn't open its taps until 11:30 anyway!

I think you will be pleased with SWF. It is easy in, easy out. Everything is quick, rarely lines or waits for anything. Enjoy your trip.

Another option is Frontier Air from either ABE or MDT (Harrisburg) .....when Airtran pulled out of both Frontier picked up the slack. I don't believe they fly every day though.....we're going for a long weekend in mid December and actually flying Allegiant from AVP on Thursday morning (yeah....my own backyard....first time in about 8 years!) and back into ABE with Frontier on Sunday (flight time was much better than returning on Allegiant) renting a car for $40 out the door (it would cost us that much to park at either airport for 4 days) at ABE with a drop at AVP. We haven't flown either airline before.....so I'll let you know how it works.

You mentioned your GPS had a problem getting lost on the way to EWR.....what was the problem? We're flying to California (Disneyland) in January...flying SWA from EWR and haven't been to EWR in years.....any tips you have would be appreciated!

Ewr is not that hard to navigate. Just follow the signs.

GPS doesn't work efficiently on the airport property.
