I'm a big fan of DxDP, but the additional cost of the plan ($44/adult in 2013) is just the start of the "extra costs".

For the OP, you're looking at 6 nights with 4 adults, but eating 7 days with 4 adults. The additional cost of DxDP would be $540. You'd have 72 table credits. Based upon your 2 meal day plus eating snacks, granola, etc... in your room for breakfast, and one signature meal, you're using 60 table credits (6 days * 2 meals * 4 people plus 1 day * 1 meal * 4 people plus 1 day * 2 TS credit meal * 4 people). With the additional 12 table credits, you could have 3 table service breakfasts for the group, or upgrade 3 dinners to signature for the group. Each TS meal comes with app, entree, and dessert, plus a soft drink. Except for alcoholic drinks and tips, you're set. Let's factor those in... $20 in alcoholic drinks per dinner is $140 for 7 days. Tips at 18% for 72 sit down meals is about $500.

Doing the comparison, you've got the DxDP upgrade, $540, plus the alcohol at $140, plus the tips at $500, and you're at $1180. Of course, if you did not eat all 72 meals as sit downs, you'd save on tips, perhaps significantly. Or, if you stayed at your current plan of using only 60 meal credits but used all of them as TS meals, you'd cut the tips by $100.

So, in this particular case, DxDP is about the same as your projected OOP extras on the regular DP and you'll get an extra snack a day (which could be used for a bagel, breakfast pastry, cupcake, etc... for breakfast) plus have the equivilent of 12 meals to spread around as upgrades. To me, that seems like a "no brainer"!

We have 5 adults and have budgeted $600 for tips, 2 TS meals OOP, as well as 4 CS breakfasts OOP. We didn't budget in appetizers, but it still seems you are budgeting high unless all 4 of you are getting appetizers at every meal, in which case DxDP is the way to go. Adding DxDP probably costs less than $1000 for the upgrade - but you will still need tip money

One of our OOP meals is for Planet Hollywood. I know, I know....nothing great but we didn't go last time and my kids really wanted to so we are going! Plus we get a $25 voucher towards the meal. But since it's so expensive I expect it to be around $150 inc tax and tip.

What is WPE and BOG? hahaha! Can't figure them out!!

Since we have a while before we can book we are still deciding but here is a good guess:
1) Teppan Edo - Epcot
2) Le Cellier - Epcot
3) Cape May - Beach Club Resort
4) Planet Hollywood - DTD
5) Sci-Fi - Hollywood Studios
6) Crystal Palace - MK
7) Chef Mickey - Contemporary

Only have been to Chef Mickey's and Le Cellier before so I am still doing some research.

wanted to point out, if you havent seen, lecellier is a 2 ts meal for both lunch and dinner starting in 2013.

we go DXDP everytime. its paid . eat whereever we want. eat all courses or what you want.... tips are the only thing we budget for. besides a few little treats not covered by the snack credits. WE dont buy alot of souveniors. so essentially we only take tip money(charge it to room)and a little mad money. When we leave for fla we are essentially pennyless.....so when we come home pennylesss we feel we broke even.....:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

except for 2003 when our suburban was stolen from our airport....never did get it back.:furious::furious:

PS.. i forgot.......................................... the booze money. cant ever forget that

Wait - I am confused! :confused3:confused3
The difference between the regular DDP and the DxDDP is $44.37 per person/per night. So I get $1064.88 for the upgrade Not $540 as you stated. Am I missing something??

But she was at $750 before and rounded up to $1000 to be safe - maybe I am stingy, but that $430 difference sounds pretty big to me!

You are correct. When I calculated the difference, I used 6 nights and 2 adults, while she has 6 nights and 4 adults.
