Activities for kids in line?

Bubbles are now back in my drawer!!! :) Thanks for the heads up!

No, Thank you! :)
I think its wonderfull that you are taking your nephews to WDW. Since they have never been, they will be in awe of the place, and will probably remember it for the rest of their lives. I know I would.
You know, from now on they will be hooked :goodvibes and it will be because of YOU who cared enough to take them. I think that is so sweet! have fun!

If you have a cell phone, check to see if you have or can download games or videos to it.

I have a Verizon V-Cast phone and our kids were occupied by watching Sesame Street clips on it. It really helped to calm my 2 1/2 year old when he was having some issues with being scared and being on a bus.

A friend of mine put together a kid's fanny pack for her 4 year old DD for their trip to WDW. She had a whole bag of stuff to put in it, and each day rotated what was in the fanny pack. The rules were that DD could take one thing out to play with in each non-fastpass line.

Some of the things in the bag were: mini-books (each just 2-4 inches high with one story in each - she had a set of classic winnie-the-pooh stories); magic erase pads (the kind where you draw with a red stick thing and then lift the grey page and it "erases" the picture), mini etch-a-sketch, a mini-beanie baby type toy, a small toy car, party-favor size play-doh, little note pads, mini colored pencils (crayons melt in the heat and markers leave stains), magnetic travel games (she found a magnetic travel candy land and a chutes and ladders that are still big hits on trips), and Disney postcards so she could "dictate" notes to be mailed to friends and family.

It was one of the highlights of the trip for this little girl - she looked forward to long lines because it meant she could explore her bag and play with something new. I heard all about it in the postcard she sent me - dictated while waiting in line for her 3rd ride on Dumbo... :)

ImarriedGrumpy,

Any idea where she got the magnetic candy land/chutes & ladders game? I have most of what you listed, but that sounds neat!

By the way, you didn't marry grumpy b/c I have friend in Houston who has the trade mark husband who is Grumpy!! Maybe they are twins! :rotfl:

Great ideas everyone, keep them coming as I have 4 yo to keep entertained.

:wave2:

I emailed my friend and she said she found the games on ebay. She did a search for "magnetic travel games" and came up with quite a few options. She did say that for her 4 yr old the pieces were too small, so she did most of the moving of pieces (well supervised by her DD ;) ).

She did say to check these sites, and said they have a good list of travel games:
www.boardgamesexpress.com, www.superdairyboy.com/basic_fun.html, or www.unclesgames.com.

Hope these help, and have fun!

p.s. When my DH and I were dating, everytime I met one of his friends or family they'd say "you do know that he's grumpy, right?" :rotfl2: (and I did!) He allowed me to "drag" him to WDW in May. I should have used some of these ideas for keeping my grumpy DH occupied in lines! His final analysis of the trip? "too many people, too many lines, not that interesting, too hot, not enough ethnic food outside of Epcot or AKL." He said the only way he'll go back is if we have a kitchen in our hotel so he can cook, he'll go to Epcot for one day, and then he's spending the rest of his time "doing something that's actually fun". :confused3 Oh well. I tried... :)

is the question ball really loud?

It does make noise, not very loud, but it has a button so you can turn off the sound.

Bringing ours for the plane ride.

We also play the Alphabet game. Look around and try to find something that begins with each letter.

we play rock, paper, scissors and play relive the memories of the day before....before you know it it's our turn. have fun. Del

the 20 questions thing? the one I saw wasn't a ball.. more of a small controller. It made no noise at all, if I recall...

http://www.brandsonsale.com/tg-001970.html

but it was something like 11.99 at target

This doesnt look like the one we have, it has a big Q on it, and is the size of a tennis ball...

and it doesnt make any sound, maybe its because dd has the sound off!! Just tried it, it doesnt talk to you, just kinda beeps...

Its fun trying to figure out why it asks certain questions!! DD and DH kept pushing yes to read the questions, and it guessed that they were thinking
of... "Something" :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I think they have these on ebay, put Magical Moments Game in the search field. There are some for $4.99, but shipping seems high.

do they still work? I would like to get them for my trip in 16 months.

Just bumping this up for ideas to read later.

I'm not sure if the Magical Moments games still work. I can let you know in a couple of weeks since we leave soon and are taking ours with us.

I just got a reply for the seller on ebay and they say they do. I'm going to chance it and get mine. If not it still would be fun for the girls to play with. I am going to have so many things collected before we go, I'll need an extra suitcase just to get it all there!
