We will be there in August with 2 small children (3 & 5). Since we are going for two weeks, we are interested in some down time at the resort. Has anyone every participated in their theme nights?
I know they don't compare to a Disney show, however are they worth going to?
My kids get very worn out by evening time so I don't want to book an expensive Disney night when they probably wouldn't enjoy it.

Any thoughts/opinions?

Stayed there in 2003 and kids were actually very disappointed they did not participate in more activities.

Now if you or spouse golfs or plays tennis it is great. New mini water park also going in this year.

But like anything and I am a broken record, if you are completely under the WDW trance you may not be such a fan. We went to Hoop de Doo and found it the biggest waste of time and money ever. So you know my opinion.....

Shoney....we're owners at OLCC - 2 weeks/twice a year. The last few years our families have joined us...they too have children your children's ages. The activities at night can be as involving as you want them to be. Every evening there is themed live music at one of the pools - on Thursday there is a Hawaiian Luau (you do NOT have to eat at the buffet to see the show). There is also a free camp ground sing along on the beach one night with marshmallows and things.... You could pick up some things at the dollar store to surprise your little ones with...those leis that are cheap, for the luau..bandannas for Country Western night, light up sticks for the "Blast from the Past" night...little flashlights for the campground sing a long. That's what I did...some times we went to the activities and it just made it a little more "special" for the little ones.
They also have a small theater in the main clubhouse...and if you look at the schedule they sometimes have childrens movies showing.
The new area has a pool that is child friendly with a graduated shallow part, and a water slide for your 5 year old if he is adventurous. The new water park was supposed to be finished...but now they're saying 2006, because of the bad weather they had.
There is a beach with sand, and also a small playground area with a few swings by the main clubhouse. There's a pizza - ice cream place in the clubhouse too.
Watch from your unit, the first night you are there to see if you can see the fireworks from Disney in the distance. We have a unit on the top floor of one of the high risers, and a single unit in the older area, and can see the fireworks from both. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time...the younger children will probably "crash" early....I know ours did! The older ones (7, 8, and 9) had a wonderful time every night.
Remember - you can request a crib and high chair if you need these things.
There is a short cut into Disney property....let me know if you need it...it's been posted here before.
If there's anything else you need to know let me know, or send me a pm.
