Activities at AKL

Hey All,

I'm staying at the AKL in the beginning of May and I was just wondering what there is to do with AKL. Are there trails to walk and look at the animals? What about the night vision animal watch? Is that an organized tour or do you go out on your own at your convinience?

I am just looking for anything people did and enjoyed at AKL...sitting and having a drink somewhere, obviously the pool is fun, but really anything. Thanks

There are plenty of overlooks of all the savannas. There is an overlook on each wing about half way down. They ends of the wings are stairwells that also make great photo ops.

At least 2 by the pool area that I remember. 1 had a bunch of flamingos and birds in a small wading pool area, and the other overlooked Uzima. The Uzima overlook always had a CM person there explaining the animals you were seeing although I am not sure if that was just timing on our part or by design.

Sunset overlook is a big one and it looks out over Sunset savanna. And of course, you have the Arusha Rock overlook in the middle which is a really well done area.

Believe it or not, I did not realize about the night vision viewing until just a few days ago and so I have not done it.

The pawprints on this map might help a bit. The red Xs are less desirable rooms (due to being in a corner with possibly a limited savanna view). This is from another post I made so thats why it has info you didn't ask for.
