We are going to visit my BIL & SIL, no kids next week and my SIL told me to look for things to do. Besides shopping what is there to do in the area? I found an Art Museum. Looking to maybe go a little out of the area but not sure what Boca is close too. Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks

There honestly isn't a lot to do right in the area. Of course there is the beach which is fine in Feb. as long as there isn't a cold front.

Sawgrass Outlet Mall isn't too far away.

There are some nice outdoor shopping areas in West Palm Beach which is nice. There are some shopping in the downtown Boca Raton area as well.

We lived there for a few years and never found A TON to do honestly! Have fun though ...

I just wanted to add that Boca is fairly convinent to West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale so anything between those two places are area's to check out.

Deerfield Beach, Palm Beach, Boyton Beach, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek are all in the area.

If the weather's nice, hit the beach, rent a boat and cruise the intercoastal waterway or do some charter drift boat fishing. The only fun walking area is Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. Maybe drive down to South Beach in Miami or up to Palm Beach? Honestly, when the weather's cool, other than shopping and eating, it's really quite boring around here...

Not sure if you are interested in nature areas but there are 2 in Delray Beach/Boynton Beach area

Wakodahatchee Wetlands

Green Cay Wetlands

Nice boardwalks and birds and other nature.

Also in Delray Beach Morikami Museum & Gardens-Beautiful Japanese gardens & buildings

And when all else fails check Trip Advisors for things to do

Hope that helps. Like other posters have said Boca Raton is centrally located to West Palm and Ft Lauderdale. So I think you can find plenty of things to do and not all of them have to involve shopping or even spending money. Have fun.

You can snorkel at the beach (Red Reef Park).

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center on Ocean Blvd.

There's a Muvico and Boomers right off of Glades Road.

There's a children's Science Museum in Ft. Lauderdale with an IMAX.

Miami is less than an hour away and there is lots to do down there.

City Place in West Palm Beach.

You can make it to WDW in less than 3 hours.

And they finally reopened the HOOTERS in Boca this past December! :yay:

Some great suggestions have already been made.

Take a drive on A1A along the beach as far north or south as you want to go. A1A is a beautiful drive. Stop at one of the many parks or pier overlooks in Boca and take a look at the ocean or walk on the beach.

One neat place to stop is the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca: http://www.gumbolimbo.org/

If you drive a little south from Boca on A1A, stop at the Hillsboro Beach pier in Deerfield Beach. Walk on the beach and pay $1.00 to walk out on the pier for a great view and to see what the fisherman are catching - we have seen some amazing sea life from the pier. Eat at a local spot across the street from the pier that was featured on Diners Drive-in's and Dives called the Whale's Rib.

Head further south on A1A towards Fort Lauderdale (without having to go all the way to the busy city of Fort Lauderdale) and stop to have lunch at the Sea Watch. It is one of our favorites and has great lunch specials: http://www.seawatchontheocean.com/

This is just what I needed Thanks!
