The promo said you had to buy it from Oct 2 to Jan 3, but I had bought mine a couple months ago. It didn't really make a difference to me, as we weren't planning on coming back after Sept of next year (taking a year off to save up DVC points).
I activated mine on Thursday Oct 6, and never even looked at the expiration date (bad, I know since I have read reports of them giving incorrect dates). So I was surprised when we activated my son's and my husband's today and the CM said, "ok, you are set for 13 months!" This was at AK, so I thought maybe she just was mistaken and did it. But I checked, and my pass that was activated at MK is also 13 months (actually a few days less, but I won't be back next November so I'm not spending time to correct it).

It's most likely based off the activation date not the purchase date so you lucked out! :)

This is awesome to hear!! I purchased mine a couple of months ago and will be activating it on the 19th. We are debating a trip next november, this might seal the deal on that trip. :flower1:

There are reports that either purchase *or* activation during the window is sufficient. Since the 13th month promotion is tied to the 45th anniversary celebration, one might guess that activation would need to take place during the year-long event.

This excellent news! I was thinking this was going to be the case, but was looking for more guests who had this work for them! Wonder if anyone has been turned down? I bought our tickets mid September and will go to activate on Nov 12th. I'm super excited that we should get the 13th month for our passes! That'll let us come right after thanksgiving and works perfect for our plans!

I thought I read here in another thread that need to be purchased by Jan 3rd and activated within 18 months. Might be all wrong but that's what I'm remembering. Doesn't make sense that they'd have to be purchased by Jan 3rd and activated by Jan 3rd. sorry if this part is wrong.

I am hoping that when I activate mine next month that I also get the 13 month offer. I renewed mine 5 days before the promo was announced. :( Thanks for letting us know that you got the 13 months. Gives me hope.

We are arriving on Jan. 15 and planned on getting our a.p then. Do you think we will get the extra month, or should we try to pre purchase now to get the extra month? I've never pre purchased, and don't really know how to do this. Any suggestions?

You need to buy the APs by Jan 3.

I also read, on another forum, that you have 18 months to activate. I need to research that because we won't activate until Oct 1, 2017.

I bought mine online mid September. I activated them on October 2 and they gave me the 13 month. It was a really nice surprise.

The same thing happened last year. I bought an AP voucher months prior to the release of the new AP's that include photopass in early October. I activated in December and got it.

If you renewed your AP, then it's already active. A brand new AP would be different. If say your previous AP expires 10/1/16 and you renewed on say 10/5/16, it would expire 10/1/17

I'm under the impression that you have to buy an AP AND ACTIVATE it by Jan 3rd to get the 13 months. Because say you buy now but don't activate until August, there's nothing special when you activate it in August to make your pass 13 months instead of 12. I would think they've edited the activation period so any annual pass activated between October and beginning of Jan would automatically get the 13 months

My AP is active and expires Nov 29th. I renewed on Sept 27th and currently have the vouchers that I need to exchange to "re-activate" the AP on or around Nov 29th. So I guess I may not get the 13 month promotion, which will irritate me!

I'd like to know how this works because I renewed in august and have been using the pass but I never needed to activate it. I'm going into mk today with enough extra time to stop at guest relations and try to activate it :)

The thread entitled "AP 13 months promotion" had folks saying disney's Twitter feed said you have to buy during this time but 18 months to activate.

So frustrating. They should update the website to make whatever the case is clear

So if I renewed my dh pass on August 24 (it was to exp on October 24)
Will he get 12 months or 13 ???

Renew or buy a brand new one? Renewing an AP only changes the year, not the date. So if you renewed it it should expire Oct 24th, 2017. I'd contact Disney and see

According to a tweet from Disney parks official twitter account in repsine to this question, you must purchase within the promo dates and activate within 18 months to get the 13th month. We just bought new APs on line and haven't activated. In MDE they say "valid for 13 months from date of activation". We plan to activate in late Feb.
