Act missing from Cirque - Drawn to Life

We attended the January 4th show at 5:30pm and it was wonderful, but I happened to see some promo materials recently and noticed that there was an act in the media that we didn't see. Apparently it was the grand finale of the show in which there are acrobats swinging on swings, flipping through the air. They are dressed in turquoise skirts and reddish tops.

At first I thought I was crazy and that my memory is just that bad....but I saw something again, in another review and my daughter was next to me and I asked her and she confirmed I wasn't crazy.

Was anoyone else at this show who could confirm I'm not crazy?

I know a few nights later the show was cancelled at the last minute. Any inside info as to why this scene was missing and if it has been put back into the act?

I'm surprised that they can stage a show with that many acrobats at all. Consider the reports of 20% absenteeism at times in some workplaces with Omicron and think what would happen if a few key acrobats tested positive. They might have stand-ins for some positions (but it's not like acting - each apparatus takes a lot of skill), but the finale probably has most of the cast in it and wouldn't work if down a considerable number.

That's just a guess of course...

I'm just trying to find out if the show was actually changed or if that act was just dropped for our performance day.

I went on 12/30, and the act you’re describing was in the show. So it sounds like they had to pull that act for an isolated reason.

That could be. Haven't been to the new show yet, but have attended 3 different Cirque shows in the past. In La Nouba I remember the finale being so busy that you didn't know where to look. I figured this might be the same sort of thing.

Thank you for confirming. Since they don't post full shows like people do for Rise of the Resistance, there is no way to tell if something is dropped. It was also odd that the following night the show was cancelled at the last minute so maybe something else happened and they couldn't run it with 2 acts down....very strange. That part looked pretty awesome...not that all of the acts weren't but I always loved trapeze acts!

Yes, I agree, but this was definitely modified in comparison to La Nouba and I agree.

In this show, there were mini shows within the whole show and they were performed by separate sets of actors/experts, probably specifically so if people got sick, they would only have to isolate that part of the cast maybe? Who knows.

Cirque du Soleil (the entire chain, not just Orlando) has a poor refund policy. I realize all performing arts companies have been really hurt over the past two years. That's not an excuse to not allow refunds when things change, like if you have tickets during the peak of Omicron and decide maybe that's not a good time to go.

If they are also not cancelling and providing refunds when they don't even have the full show available, which appears to have happened above, that is straight up money grubbing.

I will not be attending any more Cirque performances anywhere for the rest of my life. They've lost future revenues from me, greater than what I was asking to be refunded. Not even refunded! If they had just given me a credit I would have been content with that. But now? F them.

Suit yourself. You bought tickets for a show and decided not to go. If a lot of people did the same thing and wanted credit, they would lose a lot of money. I had a similar thing happen to me, I bought tickets for an after-hours event at Universal for Dec 2020, decided not to travel, and couldn't get a credit. I was disappointed. As the event was still happening, it was not their fault I decided it wasn't safe to travel. But I did buy tickets for the same event in Dec 2021 and went then.

Three weeks ago, I did call and ask for a credit for a future show. The reason I decided not to attend was because I had read, here on The DISboards, that masking was not being enforced. When I called and mentioned that some of my DIS friends had experienced unmasked audience members all around them at the show, the customer service phone representative said that Florida Law did not mandate masks. I said, but wait! Disney World requires masks indoors and Cirque is in Disney Springs, and Disney Springs is Disney World property. She then agreed to give me future credit for my $185 ticket. I can see that non expiring credit in my Cirque account for any future use.

But you absolutely SHOULD have gotten a credit. Just because you decided to accept it, doesn't make their policy correct.
