Acrylic Nails...

Anyone else have them? I had mine put on about 2 months ago...I'd still debating whether to leave them on or not. Its a lot of maintenance, every 2 weeks. Do you keep them up or paint them yourself?

I have the gel ones that have a permanent french. I can get away with three weeks and I do polish mine myself. The beauty of the gels is that when you take off the polich you still have a french

I have them, and yes I buff them in between weeks and paint again. It makes it last longer and I can go almost 3 weeks in between. I just don't have nice strong nails.
I feel better about my nails when they are done.

I used to work with 2 girls that had these done and they both developed nail infections. They fought like crazy to fight them with prescriptions and all, but nothing ever seemed to work.

Maybe it's a fluke? I don't know, but I'd never have them done. Of course, I've always been lucky with long and pretty strong nails too.

I have the same gels and mine last a minimum of 4 weeks-I can push it up to 6 weeks if I dont have time or want to hold out for a special event. I love them and would never go back to acrylic.

I switched to the gels (from acrylic) a few months ago, and I love them. They're the most natural looking "fake" nails I've seen yet.

Can someone explain the gels to me?
4 weeks sound a lot better than 2 weeks.

I've never heard of gels, what are they like? I guess I'm picturing something semi-soft with the word 'gel'.

I have acrylics and love 'em. I get about three weeks out of mine. I don't repolish unless I've done something horrible to them.
