I usually do not agree with much the ACLU does, but in this case, I congragulate them. It appears people (esp. ladies) are getting fed up. I hope the ACLU files multiple suits.

We are the most modern country in the world. Surely we can do better than groping people in security lines. I bet if the government asked a company like Microsoft to design a system to check for all explosives, they could do it.

I guess I disagree with you. Whatever messures they have to take to make sure my flight is safe, I'm all for. Once again the ACLU sticking their noses in where they don't belong. A metal detector will not get everything. If you want to sacrifice your safety and others, because you can't be inconvenienced than maybe you should drive. But thats my opinion. I'm not here to argue politics.

Here's an article about a change in policy: Pat-Down Modified

From a personal standpoint, I was selected for a "hands-on" screening at MCO. I didn't know about the new policy. It didn't bother me to be "groped" if you can call it that. It happens in the blink of an eye and it's over and done with before you know it. It's a safety measure, and I support it.

I think all this fuss is silly, but that's just my opinion.

Don't get me wrong. I am all for safe flights as well. But we can do better than a 3rd world country. Their are weirdos out their who will do anything, say anything, or be anybody just to touch my 14 year old daughter or my wife!

As far as the new policy, I quote the article:

"Security screeners now will keep their hands to the ``chest perimeter'' of women unless detection equipment picks up the possibility that they are hiding explosives between their breasts."

They just told all the female homicide bombers where to put the expolsives to get by security. As was stated, security equipment can not pick up everthing, so we just gave them the opening,

Think about it this way--if a woman can hide explosives under her breasts, then a man can just as easily hide them around/under their genitals. I don't see men's gentials being hand searched. Not to mention that I've seen some overweight men with bigger breasts than many women--and I'm not seeing them getting searched.

The root of the problem is not with passengers, it's with security as a whole. I have a friend who is a security guard at a major, very busy, international airport here in the US. His job is to guard the runway--who has access to it. You wouldn't believe how lax it is. Most of the guards are more worried about getting handouts of food from the catering services than inspecting anyone's vehicles for contraband.

Personally this country has gone so overboard in the effort to create an illusion of safety not funny. It's pitiful and ridiculous. Here in NJ they make the public bend over backwards and submit everything up to a DNA sample to get or renew a DL. Yet it's the idiots who work for DMV who have been handing out fake DL's to people, not the public using fake documents to get the licenses. The problem is from inside, and the beauracracy is punishing the public rather than cleaning up their own house.

I agree with you, Anne. The biggest problems are within the bureaucracy, and no matter what the situation, the bad guys will always find a new and better way to do their deed.

Ducklite, when my mother passed away in September, we ended up booking two one way flights for our 23 year old son. When a young man flies one way, it sends out all kinds of red flags and he was pulled aside by TSA on both legs of his trip.

They most definitely pat men "down there". When we dropped him off, we stood and watched to make sure that he didn't have a problem and we saw it for ourselves.

Like I said, I had the chest search and it wasn't a big deal. It's not as if they're manhandling you. The female agent very quickly felt around the edge and in between my breasts and she did her absolute best to ease any discomfort.

These "hands-on" searches are so quick that you don't have time to be embarassed. I still don't see what the big deal is all about. If it means I'm a bit safer, then I don't care what I have to do.

Glad you feel that way. My 72 year old mother does not. She was very embaressed to be searched by a TSA agent who did more than a quick feel with the backs of her hands in full view of everyone.

My son is also often singled out for extra inspection. He's never had anyone really feel under or around his genitals. He gets a tougher search getting into various concerts.

The point is, searching old ladies isn't going to do any good. The truth is that the criminals are going to get their weapons/explosives onto a plane using many other ways--they aren't going to carry them through security. They are smarter than that. The only people being inconvenienced by the illusion of sfety are the innocent travelling public.

I gotta say, my bras are sooooooo padded....

::::everyone::::
How padded are they??

They are so padded that if someone at the airport wants to grope them, the agent would have to be in the next terminal. bada bing!

 RIM SHOT!

Thanks for the joke. I wonder if I can tell that to security while I am being groped?

:jumping1:

I was looking forward to a good groping a few days hence. Now what will I do for my Holiday Jollies?
