Ok, so the person I am being Secret Santa for likes embellishments. Uhhh I don't really get it! LOL To me, I am super lucky if I mat 1 picture on the page, I always journal, usually have a title from stickers or page toppers, sometimes I buy an already made paper piecing and I am done. I am HOPING to get into eyelets and brads soon, but right now, you tell me you like embellishments, and I draw a huge blank! Went to Michaels yesterday to see what I could see and I was completely lost!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well if I were to tell someone I like embellishments I would mean things you add to a page besides the paper, cardstock & stickers such as:
ribbon slides
Jolee's stuff - like the princess dresses
those little metal frames/tags (FrameIts ?)& turnmounts
TagIts - small acrylic circles & squares with words on them
flat acrylic buttons
epoxy stickers sometimes called bubbles
vellum pockets/envelopes aka StuffedUps
vellum quotes
shaped clips (sort of like a paper clip)

Basically stuff like that. If I were making a list & wanted brads & eyelets I'd have probably specified those. I'd use the word embellishment to lump together all the other little goodies...but that's just me. OTOH - I'm sure I'd love whatever you got! Pretty much anything that comes in the mail is good! :teeth:

Have fun!

yes....anything fun will do

Michaels has little spools of ribbons in all kinds of lovely designs for 99cents,
colored brads, shaped brads, eyelets, ready made tags, and under the dollar jolees there is a ton of little items (flowers, baskets, disney items, buttons), then there are buttons, metal charms, fibers that come on a card with a few types per pack, tags with metal edges, vellum tags, oh and wouldn't Chrismas jolees be fun, since its a Christmas exchange.

Use the coupon and you can get one item a week for a good price. I didnt get in because times are tight enough here with xmas coming but I would probably use the Joannes and Michaels coupons two weeks in a row to get the goodies cheaper, then I could buy more....lol!

Whatever you buy they will love...

When I hear embellishments I think of brads, eyelets, ribbon, tags, charms, buttons, alphabets, and such like that. Anything that I could use to add a little something to a page. Jolee's, paper bliss or 3D type stickers also come to mind, but more along the lines of premade embellishments.

OMG, thanks so much guys!! I felt so dumb! LOL But that helps a TON!!! Scrapcandy.com and Rockymountainhobbies.com (I am LOOOOVING RMH right now) have links on the side that say EMBELLISHMENTS, now I know I will just get what I would like. :-)

Thanks soooo much!!!

Don't feel dumb ... asking questions is how we learn. When I first began scrapping about three to four years ago, I didn't know what an embellishment was either.

And I like using those 99 cent spools of ribbon that Cindy mentioned. I started using ribbon after folks here (like Nicurn) talked about it a lot.

What do you do with ribbon? I like tags and have used ribbon for those before, but what else can you do with it? Thanks for your help/info!

I've used ribbon for a border, put a title on it, added them across a frame or mat....I'm still learning what to do with them. I've seen a lot of people folding a piece of ribbon & then attaching that to something (maybe a mini file folder, or journal box, or or or) with a colored staple. Why don't you check on the TwoPeas site? I get lots of ideas from there! ::yes::

I got this link by going to the TwoPeas site & searching via the View by Technique/Product link. Under Products, you can select Ribbons. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. :teeth:

SOmetimes I sew ribbon across the top of the page with my sewing machine. It really makes a nice border sometimes.

I also use ribbon to tie onto the tags.
