Ugh... I was really counting on the SW voucher I had from our last trip when our bags got re-routed. Our dates came out today, the fares are reasonable, and I was going to book. Then I read that the voucher had to be booked and USED by 10/24/10. UGH! When I got the voucher, I told them we're going to be flying again in December '10, and they said "oh yeah, just book by Oct '10."

What can I do with it? I don't want to see the $100 go to waste, honestly I'd like to use it. Can they extend the expiration date? I called SW but the wait time was an hour and a half. :scared1:

Since you give your voucher information at the time of payment, wouldn't that payment date be it's "use" date, not the date you fly?

Use the voucher by the date on it. You can book for any date, as long as you use the voucher by it's date.

I thought (and was told that) it would be that you can use it as long as you book by the exp. date, but when I plugged in the voucher #, it said "The voucher expires prior to the last date of travel." Ugh!! I want to call, but I don't want to waste 90 cell phone minutes just being on hold. :sad2:

You'd think! :confused3

I plugged the # in again, it wouldn't work.

I'm trying to see if I get any bites on craigslist. I don't want to hesitate on booking these flights... they could get much more expensive!

Ugh so I finally got through only for a really rude rep to tell me I called the wrong #, and that I can't use it because I HAVE to travel before 10/24. I was like, well, I'm in my 3rd trimester, I can't travel now. UGH.

I just tried to call the customer relations number, that I was apparently supposed to call originally (unbeknownst to me) and it was busy! :scared1:

I just want to book these darn flights before they go up.

That's too bad. SW has extended my vouchers in the past. I hope this gets sorted out for you. Keep trying :)

I am checking with my friends...I don't think they have booked their return flight yet..going down on SW 9/21 and need to book return flight for 9/26..they are playing the waiting game....:rotfl: how much would you be willing to sell it for? and form of payment??? if you want you can PM me.

i've always heard it has to be used/traveled by the experation date. And many people have said that they can get the date extended, sometimes by a small fee.

It's an 800, is there a pay phone you can use?? Or wait til it's night time to call for free?

We ended up with a credit last year when our flights dropped in price.
I was told they could extend the expiration for a fee and if I recall correctly, it was $50. I ended up giving the credit to a family member instead.

There is a 50 dollar fee per voucher to extend the date. Is it worth it to pay half of the value? It has always been that it needs to be used, ie, flight must be before the expiration date of the voucher. I have used vouchers for years and I have never been able to get them to extend the date for free. they have even told me to have a family member use it.

I booked the flights, apparently some flights have gone up in the few hours they've been out. I think I've found some other way to have the voucher used ;)

Ugh, I'm sorry! I have not had much luck dealing with Southwest. I had to call customer relations to help me with a credit that their computer system messed up on. It took 3 weeks to get it resolved! I ended up missing the good sale on the tickets and paid $100 more for tickets if I would have just let the credit go. They ended up refunding me the credit amount to my credit card for how long it took. And then about 2 weeks before my flights, they went down to the original sale price, so now I have a whole bunch of SW credit, too! I don't really want to use it though, because they made me so angry our last trip and broke the whole wheel off my double stroller and didn't even say sorry! I think the Customer Relations closes at 5 or 6 Central Time.

I've been trying to call customer relations for 2 weeks now with questions. The line has been busy every time.
