Acer notebooks? Are they good?

I really don't know too much about this brand. Circuit City has one for sale 499.00 and I am wondering if I should go for it. Thanks!

My first notebook, over ten years ago was an Acer. At the time they were fairly cutting edge. Now, I don't think I'd buy one. You get what you pay for, ya know?

I have had my ACER TravelMate 250 for exactly a year now and have had virtually no problems with it (hope I did not just jinx myself!).

My son-in-law (a computer repair tech for a public school system) picked it out after my husband told him to get the best he could get for under $1500. We paid $1100. My daughter keeps saying my notebook is much better than hers.

Call a computer repair place or someone else who works on computers and ask their opinion of the particular model you are considering.
