Ace, Me, & the Guy with CP *An update on Bill Pg. 70*

I'm here and still reading too:goodvibes Just running way short on time since we leave for the World next week:banana:

Oh now you are rubbing it in, LOL it is 65 days for us, way too long! I hope you and your family have a GREAT time!!!

I am a little late but am so glad that I found your Pre-Trippie...it has been great so far and very informative. Thanks for sharing all the background stories!

Thank you so much for joining us. I love your pre-trippie!!

We had been together almost a year and a half when Bill started mentioning possibly taking a Disney World trip. I thought “NO WAY”. Now to understand this situation, you have to know a little bit about him and a little bit about me.

Him – daredevil, fearless, adventuresome. The man has been to over 50 music concerts, been to conventions all over the USA, and if there was a wheelchair X Games he would be the first in line to participate
trickedoutwheelchair.gif
.

As Yoda from Star Wars once said: “No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.” Bill lives this. He thinks all things are possible, he just might have to do it in a different way.

ME – Introverted, homebody, pessimistic. I am content with staying at home with the dog, going to concerts locally, and just living a peaceful, yet boring existence. This does not compute in Bill’s brain. I swear the man was put on this earth to get my out of my shyness and experience new things.

Bill also asked if he thought my son Josh would like to go. I immediately started crying. It overwhelmed me that he wanted to include Josh. Now that might seem silly to you, but Josh had had some serious issues in his life that year and Bill thought it would be good for us all to be together. Bill loves Josh unconditionally and treats him far better than his Dad, but we aren’t going there, lol.

We asked Josh and got the typical 16 year old’s answer “how long are we going to be gone?” (My goodness, we were taking him away from his girlfriend and hours of being on the phone :sad2: ) We went for 6 days/5 nights at POFQ in February 2006..

When we arrived and checked in, we got our “Keys to the World” cards. I was so excited we were finally there. We then proceeded to our room. We kept walking and walking. We had been up since about 4am that day, I hadn’t really slept the night before. How could I sleep? I was getting on a plane for the first time and going to DISNEY WORLD!! I was starting to get aggravated and tired because it seemed like forever getting to the room. Bill just kept smiling and laughing at me. I had forgotten about the water view part of our reservation and DUH you had to be by Sassagoula River to have that. I loved it there even though the room at the furthest set of buildings from the lobby and bus stops. Here are two pictures when you were outside our room in Building 7.

After we got back from WDW I realized that when I went in Feb. 2006 with Bill and my son I never got a picture of Josh and I together, how dumb is that? Josh took some pictures and I took some pictures, I never thought to ask cast members or anyone to take a group photo. (Also, before the DIS, I had no clue about a Photopass card). I thought I would show you three pictures from our trip with Josh.

This is Josh with Bill. It was so cold in Feb. when we went. They said it hadn't been that cold in years.

This is at one of the outside tables at Flame Tree BBQ in AK. The pic is blurry for a couple of reasons: (1) the squirrel scared the daylights out of me jumping on the table like that, so I wasn't in photographer mode and (2) the little thief was moving fast.

Here is Bill and I at AK. It was freezing that day, but we didn't care. We did lose Bill's right hand due to the cold, but there are sacrifices when you want to see everything at Disney. (Just kidding, that hand/arm has a mind of its own. This is the arm he nicknamed “Wild Thing”. He asked me to just pull the sleeve over his hand.)

We had a great time even though it was hard to keep a teenage boy off the phone, out of bed in the mornings and focused. We went home and were immediately wishing we were back at Disney World. Bill then started talking about wanting to go back :rotfl:.

Next installment…Second Disney trip stories

Yikes! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I can't believe you were able to snap that shot!!

After reading about you two, I guess opposites really do attract!! :lovestruc :lovestruc

And I want to share with you that every year I do the same thing!! I take all kinds of pictures of everyone and everything else and forget to take some of myself! Actually, I have to force myself to take out the camera in the first place.... I'm usually just to caught up in the action to remember!

When you start planning your next WDW trip before you even arrive home from the first one, you know you are hooked! ::yes::

Kathy

What a great couple you two are. And a beautiful love story.

Sounds like you had a great Disney trip with your son!

We got such a kick out of watching that squirrel until he jumped on the table, I was ready to get out of there after that. My son just laughed and laughed :rotfl2:.

Well then Kathy we are officially hooked. We have been talking about taking another trip in December 2008 starting the day before my birthday.

Thanks for posting your reports, they are great, keep'em coming!
:cheer2:

Your welcome. Thank you so much for joining us and reading my long winded posts. I know I admit is I am a rambler when it comes to typing these reports. I am trying to cut them down. I love your name, Grumpy is my hero :rotfl:.

Thank you for your kind words. This man was meant to be in my life, I truly believe this. My son talks about that trip to this day, he loved it, even though back then he was acting like nothing was a big deal, teenagers .

BUMPing in hopes of a new post (and more pix!) :goodvibes

Kathy

I have a new installment ready, I just have to upload pictures to photobucket. Thanks for remembering me Kathy.

As you all know some people are Disney::MickeyMo people and some are not :sad2:. The “are not’s" thought we were insane to want to go back to Disney 6 months after we had been there. We heard these questions:

“Didn’t you see everything already?”
“Why would you want to go there again?”
“You two are nuts?”
“What is the big deal?”
“Why would you go there without kids?”
And the ever popular… “Can you take me with you?” (This from people that didn’t have the money to go)

I found the DIS in July of 2006. What a WONDERFUL website!!! I read and read and read :surfweb: . I ordered the Unofficial Guide to WDW and read it from cover to cover. I highlighted, used sticky notes, and thought I was a great planner. Until I read about people on the DIS having spread sheets, planning books, and countdown charts? HUH ? I was very much lacking in my planning.

I got an ultimate packing list mouseforless.com. I also made a spreadsheet for us to plan daily activities, know which park we were going to on what day, and the ADR confirmations. Well, by “us”, I should say “me” because Bill thought it was all silly. He also knows I like to know what I am doing and when so he just let me do what I wanted.

We decided to go November 7th – 15th, I couldn’t believe it 9 days/8 nights. We picked POR this time. Bill always makes the reservations. Since he does have a speech impediment, he uses his TTY phone when he talks to customer service people. He knows to use the Disney Special Request Department phone number. He knows exactly what to ask for in terms of his disability and how to request it. (remember this, it will be important later) He is a great travel agent for us:thumbsup2 .

Fast forward to the November 6th we live in Southern Illinois so we drove to St. Louis the night before to stay at a hotel. We always stay at the Marriott and do their park and fly promotion. I decided to look over our itinerary (obsess compulsively make sure I wrote down everything) before bed to make sure I had all the paperwork together so I wouldn’t have to go digging for anything they we got to the airport.

Here is a picture of the room. I loved this bed and will stay here one day just to sleep all day, it was Heaven.

marriottbed.jpg

We had to get to the airport very early, so we got up at 5am, helped Bill get ready, got myself ready, went downstairs to check out and get on the handicap accessible shuttle to the airport. It’s starting out to be a great day but guess what? The airport shuttle bus with the lift was in the shop :scared1: .

I was in a panic. They have to check in Bill’s wheelchair at the airport, they have to label it, make sure the batteries don’t have acid in them, and give us paperwork. This takes time. About 15 minutes later, the hotel informs me they have another company coming to take us. We got loaded up and on our way, right as we are pulling up to the airport, I start looking for the paperwork. OH MY GOODNESS, where is it? I couldn’t find it anywhere, I was freaking out. Bill kept telling me not to worry about it. I was berating myself, I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t put it back in Bill’s backpack.

We got on the plane thankfully and settled in. (It was Disney paperwork and our confirmation number to a breakfast we were going to that I had forgotten.) The flight attendant was amazing. She talked to us throughout the plane ride, she knew the town we were from and we got to talking about the summer camp Bill had worked at.

We made it to Orlando safely and we are the last off the plane so they could get Bill’s chair to us. We were sitting there chatting when the flight attendant came up to us with a huge smile on her face. She asked us if we had noticed the man in the aisle across and one up from us. We said yes. She then preceded to hand me a $100 bill and said it was from the gentleman. He had heard us talk about Bill working at the summer camp and thought it was wonderful and wanted us to have dinner on him. It killed me that we couldn’t find him to tell him thank you. We got our own “dream” before we even got on Disney property. The WDW pixie dust pixiedust: was even in the airport.

Next installment… Things are going wonderfully so you know something bad is going to happen

I am back from my trip and getting all caught up....you can't leave us hanging like that!!!!! What happens next? (I still have to learn how to write a cliffhanger)

I still can't believe that man did that, I thought he was asleep for most of the flight, lol.

Yes, I am usually a pessimistic person, you will have to wait and see if it was "really big trouble", or not!!:rotfl:
