Accurate description of Mission Space Orange?

Green doesn't spin. Green is only a slight tilt plus the visuals on the screen and a little motion as you land etc. It's like star tours without 3D and with a mainly broken ride vehicle. :).

Ya I'll just skip it thanks, I get sick on star tours too.

I've been debating on whether to go on Mission Space Green or Orange. Can someone please verify if what I'm imagining is so? From what I've been able to gather, it seems like Orange is like a carnival cyclotron, or round-up (which I used to have no problems with), and that in addition, the seats tilt up or down, while spinning, to coincide with the image on the screen. Is this fairly accurate? If not, how does it differ?

I've found that as I've gotten older, I can get motion sickness much more easily than when I was younger. It's like every time you get nauseated by something, it stays in the background of your system and ups the ante for the next time you do something that throws off your inner ear. A nausea bank, if you will! I rarely got motion sickness when I was younger. I'll be taking Dramamine just in case, but really don't want to be woozie for part of the day either, as I've heard happens to some people.
Just an FYI in case this affects your trip; Mission: Space will be closed for much of June and July this year for refurbishment.

Sound advice here on if you do try Orange to do it at the end of the day, or a time that it would ruin your day.
I second/third this.
On our last trip 2 of the 3 adults in our group were done in by the ride.
We were down during the Food and Wine festival and no one felt like eating or drinking after riding so we called it an early day and tried back a couple of days later (without either Mission Space ride).

If you can stomach it, Orange is the way to go...really makes you feel like you are part of the "mission".

Green is kind of lame, did it once and found it to be really cheesy without the G-Forces and kind of a waste of time...won't bother again.

We'll be there during the last week of April. :)

I'm still up in the air about which side to choose. A lot will naturally depend on how I'm feeling at the time. I wish I could find a carnival with a graviton that I could do a test run on... holding my cell phone in front of my face to see how the optical discrepancy affects me. Alas, I'm in Maine, and carnivals don't operate in the snow!

I used to love such carnival rides as a kid. This ride makes me feel like crap. My kids laugh at me. I could ride Everest and Rockin' all day long...

Just my two cents.. i love (like really LOVE) spinny rides. I could ride teacups 10x in a row and not be sick. I've literally gotten motion sickness one time in my entire life and it was on the dang orange side of mission space. I was almost in tears I was so miserable, just waiting for the ride to end. The pressure was so intense and I was so nauseous afterwards. Good luck if you do it but I avoid that ride at all cost now lol.

Just rode it last week with my 8 and 10 year olds. I've never had motion sickness issues so I was mostly worried about my boys. I must have missed the part about not closing your eyes because I did for part of the takeoff. I never felt like I was spinning though. When we got off my boys were fine but I felt weak and nauseous for about 30 minutes until I ate something.

Like they say many times when you arrive there, if in doubt go green.

Do green first. Then try to imagine while you're on it the g force feeling you would get from those similar rides. You never feel like you are spinning while on the ride.

You could try orange after depending on how you feel. The first time I went on MS I felt sick for a while after. It got easier during later trips. I learned it helps to not move your head around (keep head and neck against back at all times). Also suck on candy or mints under your tounge

If my son gets car sick a few times a year, but did the tea cups with no problem at all, do you think we should avoid orange?

Adding... he has also done simulators with no problem.

2 of us did green and 3 did orange. They all loved it but my husband said that's probably his last time doing orange [he's always done orange in past]. It was the first time 2 of my 3 teens did orange and they were fine just a little dizzy afterwards....never in a million years would i do orange. lol.

Ride green if you are nervous.

I love orange but at times it can be intense. Some years are better than others for me. But what it feels like for me is an intense shaking followed by a lot of pressure on your chest and face. If you look straight ahead and don't close your eyes you might not notice you are spinning but that doesn't work for everyone. Once in space there are two more segments that's has that crazy pressure and g forces.

I love it so much but it's too intense for my sister so she rides green. Green is boring to me in comparison but if you are easy to get sick really ride green.

I like your description! We've always ridden Green because DD gets migraines and DH gets motion sickness. Last trip I did Orange by myself. The pressure on your face and chest during launch is accurate. Tears were streaming out the sides of my face due to the g force. The whole launch/pressure thing was totally cool. I felt the tingling in my mouth/extra saliva/might get sick feeling right after the launch when the capsule slowed down and was suddenly weightless among the asteroids. I did not get sick though, thank goodness, and felt fine for the rest of the ride after that.

that's up to you, but may I recommend Sea Bands wristbands if he gets carsick. They are at most drugstores and Amazon. Completely solved my daughter's carsickness issues.

I'm feeling quite conflicted right now, both eagerly anticipating and dreading this ride!

"The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last." -Willie Wonka :clown:

I agree with keep your head still, don't look around, don't look down, just look at the video to minimize noticing the spinning. I can't do Tea Cups or Astro Orbitor but can handle Orange. Although I rarely do orange now because I really don't like the G force feeling. My sister in law doesn't do it all but can't handle Star Tours either .

Not closing my eyes on orange is where it all would go wrong for me. I can't help it when i close my eyes on rides. It just happens! Tea cups make me feel horrible, so MSO is a big no for me.

Exactly my experience. Once and done. I stick with Green now. Other than the G, there wasn't anything unique in Orange to see that you won't see on Green.
