accuracy of crowd calendars

Yes!! We did in 2006, and will never do it again. It was I think a 4 or 5 at the time and recommended, we went on a Saturday and it was packed to the gills. We are here right now and just had this discussion yesterday morning when we were deciding what to do for the day. We decided to go resort hopping yesterday instead, even though MK was the recommended park.

I can say though, most other days/parks, the crowd level indicator was accurate. Saturday was the only day we had trouble with in the past. We will probably go Monday and take our chances.

That's what I was thinking too. We decided to go with AK on that Saturday and save MK for another day (Other than Saturday)

I am a diehard UG fan but I'm not going to take on MK on a Saturday even if it is the "slower" part of the year....

I don't know much about TGM but I know a "lot" about the "other site".

I tend to stick with research- tested and true data. The "other site" uses hotel capacity numbers to guage their crowd callendars so if hotel bookings are up, crowd numbers are increased. I know they check fairly consistently and update as necessary.

I know that the "other site" uses several pieces of information to compile their best/worst days- including thousands of reader surveys that say that x% of people go to y park on any given day of the week the most. It says straight out how they came to their conclusions. I don't know if TGM does that or not (using research to come to a logical conclusion).

Just my $.02. There are plenty of people who are happy with TGM. And there are many devout "other" followers!

hey - foreveryoung, or anyone else who uses these plans...

is it just $7.95 for as many of the plans you need TOTAL or a piece!?

Do you use them even after having had experience, or just the first few visits.

We went the last two years in early December and Saturdays were really packed both times. In 2005, we went to AK (it was in early EMH day) on Saturday and then hopped to MK. We would definitely do AK on Saturday again, but NEVER to MK. We started out at MK on Saturday last year (2006)and hopped to Epcot. It was not crowded at all -- especially in the World Showcase. Yes, there were a few more people than the days before and after, but it was very nice!

TOTAL- for access to the whole site.

Or buy the current 2008 book (from any website of your choice) and you get access to the website for "free" (for buying the book)

Personally, I spent the extra $5 and bought the book. I like the fact that I can bring it to places where I don't have internet access (drs waiting rooms...) AND use the touring plans off the website.

I've used them to varying degrees depending on who I am with- eg: last trip was with 3 other friends but one of them was a CM so between both of us we followed a good plan without sticking directly with the plans (although I had them).

The trip before that I was with a family with two kids- they had all never been before. They refused to use any plan but I gently guided them in the direction the plans directed and it usually worked out well.

This trip, I'm hoping to use them a little more strictly because we (boyfriend who has never been and I) are sleeping in many mornings and I would still like to avoid the crowds/lines.

Personally I would follow them every trip- many things change in a year (rides become more/less popular, traffic patterns change...).

Hope that answered your questions!

I currently have access to both sites and plan to do my planning with both. If there are major conflicts, I will probably lean towards TGM.

Okay is this too much to ask?!?!?!

Actually, people are not likely to do that as access to the site is via paid subscription. You would need to purchase the paid subscription.

Especially considering the low cost of subscribing, asking people to provide subscriber-exclusive information is indeed too much to ask. :)

You can print as many as you need. I continue to use them after several trips as they can change.

Yes most of the crowd calendars are accurate. I believe any of the websites give about the same info regarding crowd size. Don't worry about it thuogh. You will have a great vacation no matter the size.
