Accomodations for Family of 6.

Interested to know where other Budget Minded families of 6 are staying. We have 4 littles and would like to stay in one room.

We LOVE the Cabins at Fort Wilderness! They are (comparatively) spacious, have nice outdoor space for the children to ramble in when we're there, and I love having a full kitchen. I *think* the cabins are the cheapest accommodation for a family your size, except maybe 2 adjoining rooms at a value?

You should take a look at the Saratoga Springs treehouses that are in the woods. You may get a good deal on a house. If money is tighter than that then I'd get a suite at AS Music or AoA. I'm going in June, 5 people and we're getting a one bedroom villa at Kidani. Was considering the treehouses but too big for us. (one of the people is a baby)

We're a family of 6 with 4 little ones as well.

My mom has decided to join us on our trip so what we're doing is getting a full hook up campsite at Ft. Wilderness and renting an RV from Greenberg Rent A Camper. It comes out way cheaper than 2 rooms somewhere else or even the cabins (which only fit 6 anyway). I think it comes out to around about $200 a night.

This is for our first trip ever coming up in June so I can't say for sure how well it's going to go but I've heard nothing but good things about Ft. Wilderness as well as Greenberg.

The family suites at Aoa sleep 6 and so do the suites at all star music. If you have one under the age of 3, you can stay in any room that sleeps 5, but those might be tight.

As Spunky said, if one of your little ones is younger than 3 you *could* stay at Port Orleans Riverside. It would probably be tight but it would save a good amount of money and the resort is wonderful.
Our plan is to do All Star Music or the Cabins at Fort Wilderness for our next trip. If we go during free dining we will stay at the cabins (they are considered a moderate so they will include the Basic Dining Plan, whereas ASM is a value and would only include the Quick Service Plan...if we upgraded the plan, which we would, it would cost the same to stay value vs moderate) and if we go any other time we will try an All Star Music family suite.

We are now a family of 8, (and I might add always ended up staying in rental properties), but I was always interested in the cabins at FW. They look cozy!

We always save a ton by renting DVC points and getting a villa. Might be something you want to check out.

I would either stay in a villa, or in a family suite. The Cabins are great space wise, but unless you have a car the shuttle service is a pain. You have to take an internal shuttle to get to the bus stop to take a bus to the park.

I would also not do a legal 6 in any room. Been there, would never do it again. There is not enough space for a family of 6 to be comfortable in one room.

we are 5, but for our experience- having 2 bathrooms is very nice- I recommend a family suite )AOA or AsMu -6 in 1 regular room will be really really tight.

If you're budget minded, you could stay off site. You can get a 3 bedroom townhouse with a private pool for $100/night at windsor palms, about 10 minutes from the park.

That does help the budget, if they are driving down. I have found that when you have to pay for a rental van, it eats up about all of the savings.

It depends on your budget. Renting a DVC villa is a nice option, but it is not that cheap. We like the Wyndham Bonnet creek. The condos are very nice and you are on property and closer to the parks than a lot of the values. It is right next to the Caribbean beach resort and some rooms have Epcot firework views. You can be inside Epcot in 15 minutes from when you leave your room. The resort is great and has 5-6 themed pools and a lazy river. WBC is very popular because of the location, so you really need to book early. You will definitely have to rent a car, although there is a shuttle. Renting a car IMO is a necessity when traveling with little ones even if you stay onsite. The buses from any values take too long for my toddler to handle with good behavior (specially at the end of the day when the lines getting into them are long). Staying at the cabins requires a car rental unless you are willing to wait for a while for the buses.

In my experience you still come way ahead staying offsite in terms of price. Just so you have an idea: We are going at the end of April for 10 nights. A 2 bedroom/2 bath condo at WBC that sleeps 8 is 120 a night (including tax), while for the same dates an AoA suite that sleeps 6 is 305 plus tax and a FW cabin is 290 plus tax (with the spring discount). That is about a 1800$ difference for half the space. Car rental plus parking and gas will be ~500 for us, so we are still saving 1300. Not to mention that for us neither AoA or FW have the amenities we like to have on vacation, like a fitness center, nice themed pools and sit down restaurants. My dream choice would be a 2 bedroom DVC villa on the monorail, which is not in our budget right now even renting DVC points. WBC is a really nice and budget friendly option.

We loved our Nemo suite at AOA! The kitchenette, 3 beds, and 2 bathrooms make it great for families. We have 3 boys and it worked well for us.

The pool is great too! Nice splash area for little kids and a fun big pool! Super fun theme and the food court was delicious!

AOA also has dedicated busses, unlike the All Star resorts so transportation is faster as well.

DH really wants to stay on site, though, which would make it easier if we split up.

To me when the price is a wash, on site makes more sense. I don't have to worry about driving and getting lost, or having to stop and put gas in, or having to pay for parking. Plus when you go with a large group, it is hard to all stay together all of the time. Splitting up is worlds easier when you stay on site.

The All Stars by and large have their own buses. It is rare for them to share. Which means their service is actually better, as there are far fewer guests at each All Star. You have a better chance of getting on the bus and getting a seat than you do at AoA. Plus the family suites at ASMU are quite a bit cheaper than the ones at AoA.
