We have been DVC owners since 1994. We absolutely love it. Our favorite get away is the DVC in Vero (living in Orlando, we pretend it is "our" beach house)! We traded out 2 years ago to go to Key West. We were able to stay at the Hyatt down there; however, we not thrilled with the accommodations. It was very dated: TV and video recorder were ancient, décor seemed old, etc.; but since my boys were off every day getting scuba certified, it wasn't a huge deal.
This past weekend we were in Sarasota and decided to check the trade-outs with Interval International for a possible future stay. There were 4 listed in the Longboat Key area. As we visited each one, they went from bad to worse---they were weathered, worn and the last one we went to, "White Sands of Longboat", looked like a bad motel--paint chipping, railings hanging off, etc. The nicest one was not even close to being as good as a Disney one. We were able to visit the inside of one of the units. We couldn't believe it! The unit, while clean, was very dated in its style, décor, and furniture. Is this what we get when we trade out? I guess I need to know if anyone has been pleased or unpleasantly surprised when theyve traded out. We passed some beautiful places in Longboat Key, so we know they are out there. I thought our trading-out places would be a bit nicer. Since Interval International owners are trading their week(s) to get into very nice DVC accommodations at DVC resorts, are DVC members not getting the same quality when we trade out to Interval International?
