Two families travelling together to Disney in April 2002. We are trying to plan accommodations for our trip and can't decide to stay in the Lake Beuna Vista area or rent a house somewhere. We all went 2 years ago but one family (of 5) felt that the All Stars weren't really geared for 2 adults and 3 children i.e. added expense of 2 rooms!

Any suggestions out there? Has anyone stayed in any of the places that are inside Walt Disney World (i.e. Best Western Lake Beuna Vista, Grosvenor, Courtyard by Marriott, Doubletree, etc?) and what are your feelings? We would be looking for a place that caters to families (kids ages 11-16) - not really expensive but within a good location of Disney. A pool is a must. Do these places provide shuttle service to Disney?

I did check on rates for the All Stars for April and it will be $220.64 per nite (CDN).

Has anyone rented a house and would this be cheaper? Probably need a 5 bedroom one.

Any information you can provide would be great! I love this forum,

Thanks
Olivia

Hi Olivia, we went to WDW last April 2001 and will be going again April 2002, as a matter of fact, it's EXACTLY 6 months to April 2002 vacation. I am in Ontario, Canada. I noted that there was a discount code for all WDW hotels last April. All Stars were running $49.00 USF (add 12% tax and 1.57 exchange) = $86.16 CDN FUNDS! That's a very good price. The moderates were about $99.00 USF ($172.53). I didn't know about codes when I booked April 2001's vacation and I paid $271.00 CDN per night at CBR. Knowing codes would have saved a mint! We are planning on spending no more than $99.00 USF per night, so if I get a code, then we'll stay at a moderate (CSR), if no codes, then we'll stay at All Stars. The POP opens March 2002, so I think there will be discounts on the other WDW values since most folks will likely book the newer hotel. Maybe we'll see you there! We are thinking about the dates April 22 for a week. Sandra

We went back in August with 3 teenage boys. We rented a house with a pool all screened in the yard and i dont think iwill ever stay in a hotel again with kids. How great it was to eat breakfast before we left for the parks and throw the dishwasher on and come home and jump in the pool that we didnt have to share with any one else. The boys loved it. Granted..you dont have the shuttles..have to rent a car, but i loved it. Im sure there are lots of homes very close to disney also. We stayed in Davenport which was about 8 or so miles west on 192. Not a bad drive i didnt think. Have fun and good luck

I forgot to mention that i found the house on VRBO.com and we got it for $600 for the 7 nights..that included taxes and everything. Much less than a hotel would have been

You can also look at renting points from A DVC member such as myself and you can stay at one of the Deluxe resorts such as Boardwalk Villas Old Key West and Villas at Wilderness lodge. for around 120/night at WLV and less for OKW and BWV check it out or e mail me for info and I will let you know all about it.

Fort Wilderness cabins will sleep 6, Doubletree Guest Suites will also sleep 6. As well the Contemporary has a good sized day bed and is very comfortable for a family of 5. Do you have an annual pass? Rates aren't out yet for next year, but you may be able to get a good AP discount. Also keep checking those codes!
