Accommodation at WDW

Hello,

Just started planning our first trip to WDW which will be either next year or 2007. We want to stay on site but I can't find anywhere that lists accommodation in price or standard order. We've been to DLP a few times and comparing standards of hotels I'm looking for one at WDW that would be the equivalent of Newport Bay or Sequoia Lodge - so mid range.

Any tips on hotels either recommended or best to avoid would be much appreciated. I have 2 daughters who are currently 4 and 2 so will be spending most time in Magic Kingdom I would think.

Hi Joanne,

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the cost of WDW hotels in comparison with DLP.

To get an idea of price, I would go to www.Disney.com and price it up there - there are lots of ways of getting money off before you book but this will give you a starting price at least.

Come back and ask for discount advice before you book though!

The "monorail" resorts (those on the monorail near MK) are among the most pricey. Another resort near to the MK is the Wilderness Lodge which is similar to SL in theme but far, far, far superior (IMO). The Wilderness Lodge is a lot cheaper than the other monorail resorts!

The WDW moderate resorts - Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside, Coronado Springs and the Caribbean Beach Resort would be on a par with Sequoia Lodge and the Newport Bay. They are lovely resorts and there seems to be so much more to them than the ones at DLP (even though I love DLP, as you know!)

We've stayed at POR and it's really beautiful, with a good bus service to the parks and a boat to Downtown Disney.
