accomendations for 6?

2 bedrooms can accommodate that many guests...but if you want to avoid having anyone sleep in the living room, 4 guests must share the 2nd bedroom, which would have a either a queen bed and a sleeper sofa or murphy bed or 2 queen beds (if it’s a dedicated 2 bedroom).

is there A DVC that can accomedate 6 adults comfortably?
Only 2 BR or larger will comfortably accommodate 6 IMO. For smaller units, the only ones you could put 6 in legally would assume that one is under 3 y/o.

6 people is where I think DVC has a issue. There are numerous studios that can sleep 5, but if you double the space, a 1 bedroom, you can still only sleep 5. DVC should make the rooms sleep 4 for a studio, 6 for a 1 bedroom (2 bath rooms), 9 for a 2 bedroom ( 3 bathrooms) and 12 for a grand villa (4 bathrooms).

For 6, all over 3, if you can't afford a 2 BR, I suggest 2 studios. best would be PV as you can get connecting studios there (request only)

I would be fine with larger groups in a 1BR only if it was immediate family or possibly if they had age limits in place.

Nah, two in a studio, four in a one bedroom, six in a two bedroom, ten in a GV.

Just want to make sure people don't get confused.

Most 1-bedrooms only have 1 bathroom. (I believe 2 bathrooms is only at BLT and AKV-Kidani.)

Most 2-bedrooms only have 2 bathrooms (I believe 3 bathrooms is only at BLT and AKV-Kidani).

If I missed any, I'm sure someone will let me know.

Sorry I was implying that this is how DVC should have built the rooms. AKV and BLT are the only 2 that have 2 baths in a 1 bedroom and 3 baths in a 2 bedroom. DVC failed on putting in the extra bath at RIV. CCV rooms were too small, since they were renovated hotel rooms. Not all GV’s have 4 full baths. Several have 3.

I mean they could have done an extra bathroom but a 1BR isn't meant for a 3 couples or a family of 6. Heck a 2BR is bordering on not being for that size of a group (although we will do it).

Honestly what they need is more connecting rooms types. As an example the whole floor should have connecting doors. You could then have hybrids of 1BR+2Studios to get to a cheaper 3BR offering which doesn't have the "wasted" space of a GV. In POLY you should be able to string together as many rooms as you want.

As for anyone who says its too complicated, sorry but no. Any competent programming team could likely figure out the algorithms to deal with the booking system in a few months. As an example you start with a 1BR, click you want to add another room to it and it gives you the options of rooms that boarder it studio and 1BR, you choose that and say you want another room and again it outlines what would be boarding both sides.

Although pretty sure someone will say how filling a hotel is some terribly complex system that only a human can do vs all the other fully automated systems that exist in the world.

So a 1 bedroom has twice the space as a studio, which sleeps 4 and some 5 ( more and more sleep 5). There are a few 1 bedrooms that can only sleep 4. My point is DVC thinks it’s OK for 5 adults to stay in a studio with 1 bathroom in a studio ( I wouldn’t want to do it, but it is allowed). Why not have 1 bedrooms, which cost more than twice the points as a studio have 2 baths and 6 sleeping surfaces. There is plenty of room in the primary bedroom for either a sleeper chair or a under the TV bed. The new Murphy style couch in 1 bedrooms have a chaise lounge attached. Remove the chaise an put in a sleeper chair. Not all the studios that sleep 5 are large. BWV, BCV and BRV are within a square foot or three of SSR. DVC chose for the current refurbishment of SSR to keep it at 4 guests. VGF, Poly and RIV studios are 20-90 square feet larger.

When DVC was originally built, it was geared toward people staying in 1 to 2 bedrooms,

The move to 5 in a studio, to be quite honest, was a way for them to sell more points with a lower minimum.

1 bedrooms true feature was the kitchen and the home away from home aspect.

I can’t imagine doing 5 in a studio...but then we stayed in a deluxe hotel room with 5 before DVC! Lol

Just the opposite. If a one bedroom only sleeps four, then a studio should be limited to two persons. Most of the studios that were modified to add that murphy bunk, are really too small for five people, especially five adults. No studio is big enough for five adults. DVC got greedy and needed to sell points. So they expanded the number of guests in a villa so that they could sell smaller point contracts. And when they require so many more points for a villa with the newer resorts than they did with OKW, they gotta cram more guests into the room. Otherwise, who is going to buy 100 points and get more than two or three nights.

I think this thread shows exactly why 1BR's are generally easy to get at 7 months! They're awesome, they give the home away from home feeling, but unless you are planning on really spending time in the room or for some reason really need extra space, it's just not practical for a lot of people (especially those with smaller point totals) to justify using their points on 1BR's. That said, once you've stayed in one, it's hard to go back to a studio. It's amazing how DVC spoils us!

I can't see how to comfortably put 6 into a 1 bed. The living rooms would be too crowded with a sofa bed and a murphy bed that sleeps 2. A lot of the space is taken up with the kitchen/dining area. I think it's fine now. Why put 6 people into a one bedroom. Who does that at home and wants to spend that amount of money on DVC to do it?

And Grand Californian (extra bath)
