I'll start off by saying I'm ok. I got into a car accident on Saturday when someone came through a red light. Disney staff was unbelievable. Someone was at the intersection in a DVC van and they go out to talk to me until the police and ambulance arrived. I did go in the ambulance and on my taxi ride home the driver told me to go to the front desk with my reciept and they would reimburse me. Of course I thought he was crazy, but yes he was right. The manager came out asked if I was ok and if I needed to get prescriptions. I told her I did and since it was late they wouldn't deliver. She told me to save my reciepts to and from the pharmacy and they would reimburse me for all 3 rides. I just couldn't believe it! I wish I was in a better frame of mind to write down names.
When I got to my room there was also a message from the afternoon manager stating she heard about my accident and if I needed anything at all don't hesitate to call.
Of course I'm so impressed that I've told everyone. I was there alone on business and then extended for a little R&R. This was a scary situation that Disney handled so perfectly!
Just wanted to share.
Also Hertz has been great ....they called to check up on me and told me to send them all the medical bills and all will be paid (the other driver had Hertz also)

Wow! I'm glad that you weren't hurt too bad. It sounds like a very frightening experience! I am very impressed with the way that the CM's looked after you and took care of you.

So was I!! I'm sure I've personally told 60 people already and I know they have told people and so on. I guess it's good PR for Disney also. I don't mind giving it to them either!

Glad to hear you're okay.

This is why I enjoy working for the Walt Disney Company -- and also why it's so successful. Disney will take care of thier guests regardless of "fault"... this is why Disney service is so legendary, and folks just keep coming back.

Is wonderful in this area. My ds had a nasty fall at the bus stop in DAK. He slammed his head on the asphalt (it was awful). They called an ambulance and then took us by private bus back to the resort. ( the reosrt was closed and buses were running spordically)

We were uncomfortable going to sleep w/o getting ds checked out at the ER (ambulance told me he was fine, but I was worried). Disney paid for our taxi ride to and from the Pediatrics clinic the on call doctor recommended.

They also called the next day to be sure we were reimbursed for everything. It helped make a scary situation easier to handle.

WOW! Glad you are ok. Did you purchase the additional insurance or did the other driver? Or did you use your own personal auto insurance? I was just wondering if this has a effect on who pays the bills.

I'm glad you are alright but there is good reason for Disney to bend over backwards to meet your immediate needs. If the accident occurred at Disney, you are on private property and the owner of private property is often named in an accident related law suit.

Ah, the Hertz difference! Sometimes its worth the 10% more to have proper service!

If someone else is named at fault in the accident, your insurance rates do not go up even if your insurance company has to pay part of the bill.

You need to report the accident to your own insurance company and, if you used a credit card rental insurance benefit, you need to report the accident to them too.

Now what would it be like to be the party at fault or his insurance company or the car's owner and getting a bill that looked like a hospital bill, down to the ten dollar prescription pills (when you figure in the taxi fare to the drug store). And accompanied by a letterhead from a (deep pocket) corporation legal department (Disney's).
