Hi! We've never stayed at POFQ before, just "Riverside". I had a hard time in their accessible rooms. I'm just wondering if anyone's stayed in such a room at POFQ and how it worked out. There will be four of us- two adults and two teens, with myself in the power chair. Thanks! ---Kathy

We haven't stayed there, but POFQ was built a little before Riverside. I'd expect they are pretty mcuh the same. You could try calling
WDW RESORTS/SPECIAL RESERVATIONS

to ask some specific questions.

Thanks for your replies. I've already spoken to someone in Special Reservations. They really don't understand the specific problems I have with my chair. For one, since I'm on a ventilator, I have to be transferred from my chair to the right side of the bed so all my tubing reaches. Thus, if the bed is too close to the wall, I can't get in it. ( had this problem at AKL) If it's a room with a king bed and a connecting room, usually this works well. The room at Riverside had two doubles, which made for a tight fit. The bathroom itself was hard to navigate and too small since the sink area was outside. Fortunately we were only there on night before the DCL cruise, so we "managed". I fit just fine in the All-Star rooms which are smaller, but again, they have the king bed and connecting room which is a big difference, rather than trying to squeeze between two beds. Apparently at Riverside, all the handicapped accessible rooms are in Alligator Bayou, which I don't care for, and all have the two doubles. I was hoping POFQ had the king rooms, but the reservation agent wouldn't say- only that we'd all fit in the room. --Kathy

Well, I answered my own question. Called back about the layout of the POFQ room. In case anyone else is interested, they are set up the same as POR, with two double beds and either a roll-in shower or tub with rails. We switched to AS Movies for the two nights, rate going to $96.00 vs. $137.00 for both nights- so we saved a bit and I won't be inconvenienced by that tiny bathroom area! ---Kathy

Thanks for reporting what you found out.
It's too bad they don't have some rooms set up both ways at each resort, since some people need the twin beds for the number of people they have, but other people need the king for the room space. One thing that would be on my planning wish list would be a room layout plan for each type of accessible room at each resort, so that people could see what the measurements were - not just go by Special Reservations (so you would know if there is 18 inches between the bed and the wall or 3 feet for example). It doesn't matter that much for our family, but fro some people it means the difference between being able to use the room or just manage[/].

At least the way it turned out, you are going where you know what to expect.

Have a good time!:bounce:

Ya now I come on and have stayed at both and yes the only difference is the wall color.

A lot depends on when you are going. For information purposes, the rooms at Caribbean are 340 sq ft while all the other moderates are 314. The extra 26 sf works out to quite a bit.

I have a friend who works housekeeping in CBR who is currently (while CBR closed) at AKL. She told me the rooms at CBR are larger than those at AKL and also have more drawer space.
