I had to read today in a carol service and everyone told me that I am quite well spoken when I want to be. And now I notice, that when I talk to people I don't know, teachers or am in a situation where I need to be professional, my voice gets slightly higher and I make sure I announciate each letter.

Usually, my "estuary" accent gets in the way. Think cockney, but a little easier on the ears, more feminine and in no way, Dick Van D. style :P

So you have an accent? What is it like? Do you find your voice changes when you talk to other people?

I don't think I have an "accent". I guess I have an American accent, but its not like a new england accent, or country accent. Its just idk, the same as everybody elses? haha.

You can't hear your own accent until it's put up against the accents of others.
I'd assume that you have an average middle-American accent.

I don't think I have one but according to George I have a very slight hint of a welsh accent. Welsh accents aren't very easy on the ears so I'm glad I don't have a fully fledged valley accent xD I talk differently to everybody else around here, I pronounce words differently it's weird because I've lived here all my life just like they have. I don't know my friends say they can pick up an accent, somebody said it was a posh accent? xD Haha well yeh I don't think I have one but apparently I have a mongrel accent. ;)

Uhm, just a normal American accent? Mine sounds kinda Valley Girl, but only mildy, not like full on.

People say I talk really posh, so a posh English accent?

I have a midwestern accent. Like all the people on the news. :lmao: Real cool!

When I talk in front of the class or people I'm not totally comfortable around yet my voice gets very high pitched and soft.
I like to think I have an accent, but according to my friends/family, I dont. :p

Western Pennsylvannia accent or the Pittsburgh accent, when Im around all my friends I dont notice it but once I go on vacation, alot of people ask if Im from Pittsburgh at the very beginning of the conversation.

I don't know!! I don't think I have one, although when I was in Tennessee back in March, some people did look at me weird!

I just have a normal American accent. Sometimes my voice will get a country accent, but it goes back to normal after a few words. But when I'm speaking in front of a large group of people my voice tends to get a little deeper and more serious, and I enunciate everything more.

i' mnot sure i guess a long island accen bc apparently people can tell that my family has a long island accent like when we go to disney world ppl can tell i didnt really think there was a long island accent though lol and sometimes a little brooklyn accent kicks in bc my parents grew up there so when i would hear them talk when i was a bay i guess i caught a little of it but only for like single words not like full sentences

I can speak english very fluently and people compliment me on how they can't tell im puerto rican unless I start speaking spanish :)

french/canadian accent here (:
