So we are buying a tent which has a zip out section in the floor for a stove - I was thinking we could put a tiny AC on a grate over that section and just seal the rest of the tent up but the ceiling vents - are there any dangers associated with my plan?

There are no dangers to having an A/C in a tent..but remember the exhaust of an A/C is hot air...so you want that heat channeled out of the tent. Im not sure how the floor zip out is situated in your tent, but if placing an air conditioner there doesnt allow for the rear of the unit to be on the exterior of the tent...Im afraid you wont really accomplish your goal of cooling off. Most either set the unit in a doorway and close the zippers as far as the unit allows, and then duct tape any remaining openings...or use a portable unit...they have an exhaust hose that makes it easy to just leave in the doorway or a window. You'll figure something out...its not too difficult to rig up something that will work.

Thanks for the reply - I handn't thought about the heat - I guess I was thinking more about the water.

i AGREE...GREAT IDEA...BUT HIGHLY OVERPRICED..but...LOOKING AT THEIR PRODUCT CAN GIVE YOU SOME GREAT "DO-IT-YOURSELF" IDEAS...THIS IS A FAIRLY SIMPLE TASK FOR ANYONE TO SPEND A COUPLE OF HOURS ON.

edit: damn that caps button!!!

You can put an AC in anything if you try...
