...my younger brother would like a snowboard for Christmas and I haven't a clue where to start and hoped someone here might have some answers.

What kind of price range am I looking at?
What're some of the companies...are they the same as ski manufacturers?
I know there are boots and bindings but maybe he'd have to get those on his own so that they fit???

And those are the only questions I know to ask!!! ;)

Thanks in advance. (will post this on the CB also put I thought I could get a younger perspective...thanks, guys.:))

it all pretty much depends on your size.

prices are usually $150-$400 or more.

Lamar, burton,Clive, K2, Drake, Dakine, and Sims r just some of the manufactures.

there r also different kinds of boards for different riding, like freestyle, terrain and park

feel free to PM me with any ?s.:D

Hey tiff13!

My bro's 5'10"-11"ish and maybe 170lbs. I think he's an intermediate freeride sort of guy.

I would prefer to spend definitely not over 300 for it-I've seen some Burton and Salomon boards..I don't know, it also has to look cool too you know?;)

Just out of curiosity-what would you buy if you had my brother's stats and up to $300?

Thanks for any help. :)

Right now i think Burton r considered pretty cool. you can find boards from them for around $150-$250 (sometimes more depending on the board and where u buy it from)
this one is a pretty good one, its a burton Indie 152 i would recomend a 152, 158, or 164. i dont no what size shoe he wears but the board should be wide enough, with boots on, that your toes dont hang over more than 1/2 inch.

(people have different ideas of cool so im not sure what he'll think)

i personal like this one, it turns fast and helps with performance, but it doesnt look that "pretty" its used for park riding though.

Thanks! I've been hearing alot of buzz around Burton.

If you return to see this...I wonder if those number designations denote a particular width or length size or if it's just a make/model designation?

What's the name/model of that second Burton...I guess it doesn't come in other designs...not that that's too bad, but what do I know.;)

I was actually going to check out a brick-and-mortar store instead of buying it online...I'll be sure to make sure it's wide enough so that his size 11 shoes don't hang.

Thanks again.:)

the numbers r just the length of the board. the sizes i said r the recommended size for him.
the second picture is a burton fish. With Burton, in each design each size of the board is a different color.
if u would choose a burton board and would not like to order online u can go to this website:www.burton.com
they will ship boards to your nearest dealer.

Glad i could help:D
