Absolute Worst TS or CS and Why

Worst TS-
Food: Marrakesh. Also WAY overpriced for a restaurant that isn't very popular. Plus, the food at Tangerine Cafe is amazing  so I don't know why there's such a difference when you go to Marrakesh.
Service: Nine Dragons. Another one that isn't very popular simply because it's the same Chinese food you could get delivered to your door for half the price. I was there with a friend from work and we got our soup, got our meals, but no silverware or plates! :confused3 We would have asked the server but he was nowhere to be found, so we ended up eating out of our soup bowls. It wasn't until he came to seat another party rightnext to us that we finally got a chance to ask. The couple at our elbows looked at each other with that look of "oh jeeze, should we stay?" If they'd asked I would have told them "no."

I haven't had problems with CS's because I insist on always going to Pecos Bill's and Tangerine Cafe. :rotfl: Once I find a winner, I stick with it. :thumbsup2

We also had a really horrible experience at Marrakesh (both food and service)but this is just one of many many positive reviews I keep seeing for Tangerine Cafe ........I can't wait to try it.

Worst table service : Liberty Tree Tavern

Worst counter service : ABC Comisary. Good for breakfast, but that's about it.

::yes:: some of our favs too, were fine last Dec.!

Also agree as to post re the crappy on-site pizza quality (not just the stuff that's languished on buffets)...my DS will eat nearly anything if you call it Pizza...have tried several locations. Next up - Spoodles on BW, hope against hope, it's decent.

In a way, I think this thread is pointless. (No offense! :) ) It's hard to make a decision unless almost everyone says something is bad (like Hollywood & Vine). However, I ate at Hollywood & Vine in 2002 and it was delicious. Also that's when Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc were there and they were dancing and "singing" with a track and it was just so great. I was disappointed when they closed it.

Also, people are saying Sci-Fi was terrible and that's one of my favorite places that I am repeating on my next trip. Also, ABC Comissary has great Fish&Chips. So really, I think at a lot of restaurants it depends on the day/server.

For me, i've never had a bad meal at Disney to tell you the truth. And I live right by NYC, so usually when I go out to dinner it's at some historic place in Little Italy, so I do have kind of high standards on food.

So ya never know! :wizard:

Count me in as thinking the TC is one of the better CS places too.

CS-Cantina in Mexico=YUCK! (Margaritas next door are pretty good though!)

TS-San Angel Inn in Mexico=DOUBLE YUCK (bad service and bad food)

As far as our Disney dining experiences, DW and I have been fortunate to not have had any totally horrid experiences. However, some have been rather, shall we say, lackluster?

TS: Alfredo's--small portions of largely uninspired food at big prices, and our server seemed to want DW and I to eat our entire meal (appetizers and entrees) inside of 15 minutes... boy, were we rushed!; Mama Melrose's--we ate here last August doing the Fantasmic! dinner package, and the food was all right (better than Olive Garden--imagine that--but not as tasty or inventive as Bravo! or Carrabbas), but our server seemed put out because of us using the dinner package; Rainforest Cafe (DAK) and Planet Hollywood--both of these places had sub-Applebee's quality food, and left me feeling a little depressed that we had not chosen something a little more unique... and, of all the places I've just listed, PH and RC are the only two to which we won't return.

CS: Just one--the Boardwalk Bakery (at BWI)--DW and I made a special trip here to sample some of the offerings for breakfast and we're disappointed with both the selection and the service (being yelled at by the counter staff isn't my idea of a good dining experience).

And, as far as all the bad reviews that the San Angels (the Cantina and the Inn) are getting on this thread... I'm a bit perplexed. We've found both to have good to really good food, and the Inn has, IMO, the best dining atmosphere in Epcot.

Worst CS - Electric Umbrella. Food cold and dry and the place was dirty, crowded and loud. There are so many wonderful places to eat at the World Showcase that I won't eat in Future World anymore.

I heard the redid the Sunshine Season place though, hated that you had to go to three different lines if your family wanted three different options.

I'd have to say Hoop-Dee-Doo. Maybe I just had a bad experience.. but you have like only 2 hours to eat and they don't bring the food out right away and then we wanted refills and had to wait 45 min for refills and then when they brought out the second batch of ribs they weren't cooked. Plus it was a pain getting back to our hotel (If it wasn't for that I would have LOVEEEEED it because the food was good, but the refills weren't).

I know that most people love Whispering Canyon Cafe BUT that was the most horrible TS we have ever had.The interaction with the guests could have been fun if they hadn't "slopped us like hogs" and rushed us to get out of there. There weren't even long lines of people waiting...and they didn't just treat us that way but some of the others in our area!!!

For the CS, I'd have to say ABC Comissary. The food was just plain Yucky

TS- Alfredos, My DW ordered lasagna. As she was eating I could tell something was wrong by the look on her face. She said try this and tell me what it tastes like to you. I tasted it and It tasted exactly like Chef boyardee!!!
CS- The Sunshine Food place at the Land, hands down the worst food I have ever had at any CS.

TS - San Angel Inn. We love the atmosphere, but the food was really bad last time. We've eaten here several times, and each year it seems to get a bit worse. Last year was the worst, and our last time returning.

CS - I usually stick to burgers, so not muh to complain about. I guess I'd have to say Pizza Planet in that pizza was quite underwhelming, and nothing else to choose from.

TS-Hoop de Doo-(sorry all you fans) Overpriced, overcrowded, underwhelming food. Show was funny, if corny. my DD(then4) thought it was hysterical. :rotfl2:

CS -no worst there however we do like Cosmic Rays and The Cantina in Mexico. :goodvibes

New Years Eve, 2003, Rose and Crown. Oh, the setting was beautiful, and the beer was good  , but the server was a very unpleasant sweaty girl with a bad attitude. And when I say sweaty, I mean that she was unclean. With dirty, stringy hair. And big sweat stains under her arms. And I don't believe that she brushed her teeth that month. I'm not kidding  . We knew the restaurant would be busy, and we were planning on sitting for Illuminations, so when she finally got to our table (on the patio), I immediately gave her a $20, and explained that I did it so she wouldn't have to worry about getting stiffed on a busy night (I estimated how much my husband and little boy and I would eat for dinner, and how long we would be there over and above the time it would take to eat a regular sit down dinner, and figured out that starting with $20 as a tip would be about $10 shy - that $10 would come at the end of the night. In case anyone is keeping track, that is assuming a 15% tip on a $200 check, which would be a VERY large check for a table with 2 adults and one child). I may as well have not bothered - we still waited OVER AN HOUR for our first drink (the place was not THAT busy - just normally full), and then about another hour for a cheese plate (which was vile - and I like cheese! And tiny, although I realize it's hard to complain that it was bad AND small :teeth: ) and a bowl of soup (OK, that was very tasty, lamb and barley). I had to get up and go find her for a second round almost 2 hours after we sat down.

I have to give kudos to the manager, though, who when she stopped by our table and found out what we were experiencing (she had sat us, so she knew exactly how long we were there, and said something about how this was not the first complaint about this young lady) bought us back a round.

This would not stop us from going back, but it did put a damper on the night. I mean, I tried. We were very nice, I tipped up front (and did let her know that we would be tipping more at the end of the night, which we stupidly did - heck, I had just seen the WDW NYE fireworks from a ringside seat at Epcot!! ), but her grumpy, dirty service did put a big boo hoo on an otherwise perfect evening. Plus, I didn't care for the cheese plate.

Now, I have to say, I've been back since, and the food and the service were fantastic. The mushroom ragout, in particular, is splendid. So it just goes to show, even a great restaurant can be spoiled by a lousy server or a bad day.

TS - Rainforest Cafe
The food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Plus, this chain even gives Disney a run for their money in the merchandising department.

CS - Cosmic Ray's
The veggie burgers gave us tummy aches all around.

:confused3 It is interesting how experiences differ though. I thought Cantina San Angel was pretty good, and in my experience, Brown Derby has had great food, service, and ambience. However, I agree that MGM has a lack of inspiring CS options. ABC Commissary isn't the worst, but definately not the best either.

I have a reservation at Tony's ,so now I am scared. We eat there next week. I have never been, I would appreciate some more reviews on it. Some of the others mentioned we have really enjoyed but we have never been on the Dining Plan so we were always paying more. I wonder if this affects the servers attitude. This will be our first trip with the Dining plan and I have been very excited about it.

I'm going to try Tony's for the first time when we get to WDW. I wouldn't be scared to try no matter what the reviews. I went to this site and to another site and because of the reviews, I actually cancelled Donald's breakfast in AK. I decided that opinions are just that (mine included ;) ) so I called them back and made reservations. Well, we ended up going to the breakfast twice during our stay and it was great both times. There is a fair variety, plenty of food, always replenishing the food, the hot foods were hot and the cold were cold (which is very important to me when eating buffet.) My opinion is that you should try it this once and if you don't like it, then you've learned from it rather than not go because of bad reviews... ALSO... I've never been treated differently while on the dining plan. There are servers who are polite and kind and those who just want to get you in and out to get the next tipper in...We've only received bad serivce a few times during our visits to WDW.

TS-Nine Dragons.....most likely because I got really sick after eating there last week.

CS-ABC Commissary....we just didn't enjoy our meal there this year.

I've never been there myself, but my sister has been there numerous times with her family, and really likes it. And she's no slouch in the 'recognizing good food and service' area.
