I am wondering --- facing even more loss of political clout ---I think DeLay is gonna have to start buying his own airplane tickets soon. At some point, even the tobacco companies won't loan him thier jets.

There are 2 current members and 1 former member of Congress who are decidedly Democrats who received money from Abramhoff. They are:

-- Sen Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) $8,000

-- Rep. Lane Evans (D-Ill.) $2,000

-- Former Rep. David Phelps (D-Ill.) $1,000

Maybe the three will claim that when the accepted the money (bribes?) they were really Republicans?

The FEC database shows the bulk of Abramhoff's donations going to Republicans and some going to special interests. $0 to Democrats. As a poster above noted, some Democrats have received donations from some Abramhoff clients. But Abramhoff himself has only supported the GOP.

Mine came from the Chicago Tribune, which reported that 3 Democrats from Illinois received "Abramhoff-tainted money". Whether the money came directly from Abramhoff's bank accounts or through his lobbying work really doesn't matter. Political corruption doesn't play partisan politics.

No evidence at this point that Abramhoff coerced the casinos to donate to dems or that such payments were bribes. Abramhoff was front and center in Tom Delay's K Street project to strongarm businesses into hiring Republican lobbyists.

Fox news on TV just reported that several hundred thousand dollars were paid to several democrats from Abramhoff's "team" (Abramhoff and Friends as Fox put it.)

I also read where President Bush’s re-election campaign will give the American Heart Association thousands of dollars in campaign contributions connected to Abramoff.

The operative word is "or". Just because his clients also donated to democrats doesn't mean those democrats are caught up in this scandal. If they are they should be punished but I really don't expect this to be a "both sides do it" scandal, as much as the GOP would like to paint it that way.
