Hi, we are current owners at AKL, and looking to do an add on of points. (What else is new, right?). We've decided to add on at BWV, which is our favorite resort. Does anyone have any experience buying resale, and any important tips? I've done a lot of research. But, looking for any important info I may be missing? Anything like, you wish you knew then...what you know now. Thanks for all your help...and here's some hoping for passing ROFR :wizard:

some people say to make sure to get the same use year. This makes it easier to keep track of banking and borrowing, because if you have diff use years, then bank/borrowing windows would be different.

Also make sure to have the second one titled the same way, if they are and then the same use year, they can make the add-on a sub contract under your current master.

I'm guessing you've looked at the RofR thread that posts what gone thru, and what hasn't lately..

We have 100 points at AKV and were going to add on there. Then I saw a fantastic resale with a different use year for BWV. I called our resale agent, and he found one with the same use year in a similar price range / compatible points. We're waiting for ROFR.

What I can tell you is we offered a little more than the sellers were asking in order to hopefully pass ROFR. I talked it over extensively with **** before we made the final offer (which was accepted within hours). We'll see what happens now.

and honestly it's just not the same as going through Disney! I decided I wanted to add on two small contracts (so that I can sell off one in the future if our needs change) and the easiest thing seemed to be for me to get one from a reseller, and then the rest of the points from Disney. I made an offer first on a resale contract (100 pts) and I'm still waiting - 26 days later - for the ROFR. Being in limbo is rotten and I'm getting both annoyed and anxious! Meanwhile I called my Disney guide directly last week and was able to quickly add on the other small contract (25 pts). Since I paid cash, it went through easily enough and I can already make reservations with those points. When I initiated the resale transaction, there wasn't the 'congratulations' or 'welcome home' feelings that my Disney guide had for me - it was very cold. So I'm not sure if the next time I get addonitis if I'd do resale or direct - guess it depends on if my ROFR ever goes through!

Good luck with your decision,
Sue

I don't have much advice for you as we, just minutes ago, received notice that our offer on a resale was approved by the seller:cool1:!!! Next obstacle... ROFR. Good luck

I just added on 125 BLT points today and when I gave my guide the credit card number and she ran over all the info, she was almost more excited then I was! It was really pretty neat! Maybe that's why DVC_Mike keeps adding on, he likes how his guide makes him feel! :rotfl2:

I just want to thank everyone for their advice!! We put in an offer late yesterday evening, so we are waiting to hear the seller's response. Cross our fingers, and hope everything goes well. Good luck to everyone else in their process as well :cheer2::banana:
