About to close on a resale and not currently a member

After closing on a resale, can you purchase an add on directly from DVC to become direct member?

Yes but it would need to be 150 points min to get the direct member benefits if that’s what you mean.

You can purchase add on's once you have your member number. You will still need to buy at least 150 points direct to get direct benefits.

You can buy an add-on from Disney, but it won’t give you a blue card and access to Membership Extras unless you buy at least 150 points.

Dang. I wish I would have held on to my original one that I sold when I moved overseas.

I can’t believe it’s that high when the only perk of true value to most is the discounted annual pass and a lot of members can’t even use that! The lounge is a nice perk but many of the discounts are available with an annual pass, or Disney visa so it’s a pretty expensive blue card when compared to resale.

Adding to my previous post because I forgot new resale owners can’t book riviera and just the ”legacy resorts.” That is definitely a blow for newer resale vs direct points. I’m not a direct member myself but bought before that restriction so it kind of slipped my mind.

Depending on the size of the contract, if you do the math it’s a lot of annual passes needed to make up for the savings in resale. Totally agree with renting to stay at Riv, just rent out your points and rent some at Riv.

It seems like decades to make up the difference. Annual pass savings is about $1000 per year for a family of 4 and most resales save you at least $12,000.

The minimum is set with new owners in mind..not for resale owners whose reason is the blue card.

Years ago, the minimum was at this level and higher. I think they have raised it to get back to a point where it was.

IMO, I think this also could allow them to lower VGF when it goes back on sale and end up with more. For example, 150 @ $225 gets more than 125@$255.

Brings it closer to RIV.
