Just about to buy need a few answers
If the hotel or cruise points leave me with about
say 25 points can I use them for anything on this
vacation?
Do you get any discounts on tickets or other disney items?
We travel mostly in may is oct a good use month?

There really are no "incidentel" uses for points. You can't use them for passes, ship credit or anything like that.

Use year isn't a big deal. It only come into play when cancelling. If your use year is right before your vacation and you cancel, you have till your next use year to use the oints.

A use year slightly before your usual vacation time is best. You usually vacation in OCT, the MAY use year isn't bad. Sept or Aug would have been better, but Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and April would have been worse.

If you have a small number of points left after you have made your cruise or resort ressies, you can bank them into the next use year. Then you have a few more points to play with the following year.

There should never be a "left over" problem with DVC when you can use the banking option. Just consider it a benefit of membership. It is like adding to your total number of points.
