I just spoke to our guide, she's calling me back at 8pm EST when my fiance should be home, and we're going to do it tonight!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooo excited!!! We're probably going to head out there for the first time in January!!! YAY!!!!

Congratulations Orky15. We are in the process of buying at OKW via resale and recently bought at HH. Where in Ohio do you live? We're near Columbus

I'm near Cleveland!!! How neat! It seems like lots of DVC members are from PA. I'm thinking VWL! Actually, the fiance is on the phone with our guide as we speak!

Arrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Doesn't look like we're buying tonight. Stupid fiance wants to wait till tomorrow or April.

Don't....think.... I .....can....make....it......

Any words of advice on how to convince a stalling partner?

:o :o :o :o :o

Why is he/she hesitant?

Waiting until tomorrow just sounds like a case of wanting to sleep on it, which is fine, except you'll have time for that while you wait for your paperwork.

Why April?

Orky15, we are from Ohio also, (Girard..near Youngstown)My 4 brothers and sisters who live within a 50 mile radius(Brecksville,Warren,Brookfield, Girard) all bought into DVC in the last 3 years, and none of us have any regrets. We use our points on at least 2 trips a year. We all have different home bases, so we have flexability at HH,Vero,OKW.
If your fiance doesn't feel comfortablein purchasing yet, just have faith and patience.:)

April, because he's paid his commissions quarterly....

Arghhhhhh... in October, he said we'll do it in December... in December, he's saying April.... I'm going to die.... ;)

That's a good point. You can change your mind, I'm assuming, until you sign the paper work itself...

Orky....

Next time, YOU get on the phone with the guide and let your fiance come here to these boards. You'll pull the trigger, and he'll find a wealth of support for any "last minute" jitters! ;)

By the way, it sound like his next big decision will be that "I do" stuff.....they usually don't give you that "cooling off" time at the altar!!! :D

Good luck...it is a big decision and you guys should make it when you're both ready.

Oh, and by the way....

If you do let your fiance on this board, you might want to edit that one comment about his intelligence.

There's NEVER any harm in waiting. The two of you are sooooooo young:) . Perhaps it would make more sense for now to save his bonus for a later house-downpayment. DVC will always be there. I'd still urge you to fish around in the resale waters (unless your heart is set on VWL, but it too will eventually be available via resale).

I'd still take that weekend in January; you can get some GREAT deals right now on accomodations:)

Eros... good thought... we bought a lovely house last spring though, so that is no question. As for being too young, I know... that's why we haven't actually walked down the aisle yet!

Here are our three initial strategies...

1. Buy now, sell back the 2001 points, use the money for our January trip to the Poly. Take a trip in August with 2002 points.

2. Buy now, sell back most of the 2001 points, use the money for 2 nights at the poly and the points for 2 nights at VWL. Take a trip in August with 2002 points

3. Buy in April (he gets another large commissions check), take a trip to the Poly now with some of the Bonus money, take a trip right after closing with the 2001 points, take a trip in november with 2002 points.

Granny: <giggle> I was reading the post to him aloud as I was typing it... he was laughing at my frustration, so no offense was really meant about the 'stupid' comment.

ncligs: I know exactly where Girard is .... I have lots of friends from school in the Niles/Warren area, and you are a bit south of that, if I'm correct! Steve and I just got a house in Hudson, but we're originally from Solon, both subburbs of Cleveland.
