OKay, I know this may seem stupid...but how do you hang the hover the door shoe hanger? We went to get one today and all they had were the ones where you use the hooks....but you cannot close the bathroom door with those.

Sorry...I know it's kind of stupid...just wanted to ask.

We used one whose hooks went over the top of the door with no problem. The door still closed. I would suggest that you make sure that the hooks are the flat type. You might also use one the has a hanger type fixture at the op. There is a hook on the back of the door where it can be hung.

...to elaborate on mad4themouse's response:

You can use the kind with a hanger on the inside of the bathroom door (where there's a hook for a towel, bathrobe, etc.). (But I can't remember if there's a hook inside both bathroom doors...)

The other kind (with the flat hangers that fit over the top of the door) will hang on the outside of the bathroom door, so it works better for stuff that you'll want to get while in the cabin (i.e. sunscreen, cameras, toys, etc.) than all the stuff you'll be using IN the bathroom...

We had the kind that had hooks that went over the top of the door. It would only work in a Category 11 if you put it INSIDE the bathroom door. It then worked like a charm and was exceedingly convenient. That was one of the best tips we received on these boards--I was skeptical of why you needed it, but it was a fantastic convenience.

I just got a nice OTD organizer, which has the flat hooks... They are not very thick at all. Is there any reason that we could not hang it on the outside of the door. Are the door-frames made in such a way that you could not hang it on the outside? ( I have heard of having to step over the threshold the way it is made.....) Outside is where I wanted to hang it, as it would make things accessable for both baths and the stateroom. No "Ohhh no, what I need is in the other bathroom, and DH is in there!"

Thanks!

There are aslo hooks in the room if you are using it for other types of supplies...we used 2, on in our tub/sink BR and one in the hallway for our beepers, sunglasses, suntan lotion, lanyards etc. It worked great~

Have fun!

Michelle, that sounds like a great idea! Now I understand about the shoe holders. Never quite got it before! hehe

Hi TinkerBellPixie4GOAL,

I do not know how many folks are traveling in your party, but we came back from the Western crusie today and never used our over the door shoe holder.

We found that there was plenty of room between the shower room and powder room to house all of our toiletries.

Only 3 of us traveled, so that may be the difference,

At any rate my door organizer is going back to Walmart.

thanks

I bought one for our 11/30 cruise last year. When we got "rerouted" to PO/FQ it hung on the tv door where it was quite useful.

I am absolutely bringing one, maybe two. We'll be in a cat 3, but it isnt the space but the organization I need. Between me, DH, DS 14 and DD 6--things get scattered!

For me it is definately not so much of a 'space' thing, it is a 'clutter' thing! ;)

Sunblock, Camera, Lanyards, grooming necessities, Navigators, DS toys and souveniers, etc... etc... I am thinking that getting all the little-stuff organized and out of the way will make for a much neater and nicer looking, convenient, and comfortable stateroom.

Did anyone buy one at a Target?

I'm going to be shopping this week at one. And it would be easier to look knowing that it's actually there.

Ours was purchased at Target - $5-7 plastic one with 4 flat hooks that fit right over the top of the door. We placed it on the inside part of door in the bathroom with the shower. I thought it was very convenient to keep the "clutter" off of the shelves. I'm sure our Stateroom Hostess appreciated it also! We probably only used half of the pockets but it was well worth not having to deal with the hassle of finding things constantly.

We never ended up using ours for our past trips on DCL & WDW. I put ours in the closet & always forgot about it.

I purchased ours at Wal-Mart $5 it has the flat hookups. Hung it over the door on the outside, Cat 11. This made it convient for someone to grab things while someone else was taking a shower. So one can get ready out at the desk mirror and another can get ready in the bathroom. And it cleared up all the clutter. Everything from shoes, autograph books, makeup, etc. Went in each pocket. I will definately be bringing it again on our Western.
Happy Cruising

Even though our cruise is months and months away, I just had to be doing **something** to prepare, so I bought one with the 4 flat hooks at Walmart. I thought to take it with me on our vacation this last week and was so glad I had it. We had loads of space, but this made it so simple to put away and to find smaller items (camera, film, binocs, sunscreen, hand lotion, goggles, pencils & sharpener, coins, etc.). Since I tend to be the "put away" person, it also made it very simple for me to tell my family where to look for something, which meant I didn't also have to be the "go get it" person!

OK, I'm thinking about this over the door thing...I've read about it before and always thought "we don't need that" but I am beginning to reconsider. I know we won't keep grooming/bathroom items in it as they fit fine in the bathroom. I'm thinking more along the "keep organized" train of thought. Can you list for me what you kept in yours?
My list so far is:
suntan lotion
camera
film
KTTW cards
lanyards
DH's wallet

OK, next question:
It always seemed to me like that little entry hallway was pretty narrow as it is. Do you bump into this thing every time you come in and out of the cabin? Is it in the way?

I am so glad I found this thread and checked the over the door hanger I got a Walmart. For some reason it does not have the hooks with it. Did all of yours come with the little white hooks it shows on the pkg? I guess I am taking it back. I was just about to store the box of cruise items I have been slowly picking up..glad I took a look. Thanks

We had no problem with running into the over door shoe hanger. We put almost anything imaginable in it that would be laying around. It helped keep things organized and prevented looking for things misplaced.
HLFDZN yes my shoe hanger came with hooks, maybe you should take it back. When you open the package they are wrapped in the middle of the shoe hanger.
