Now that the DDE is offered at WDW (I thought you could always pick up a verification letter at Guest Services, just could not order there and couldn't pick up the actual card) does that mean that they are actually printing out the card at Guest Services or does this mean that I can order the card at Guest Services and they will give me a verification letter, but I still have to wait for the actual card to come in the mail?

Also, I'm guessing that renewels for the DDE will be done at Guest Services as well, does anyone know anything about renewels at GS?

Guess we'll find out after the 12th is all I can say right now :). Or hopefully an insider will share more info with us

Does guest services mean one of the parks, or I wonder can you do it at your resort. We are eating at Whispering Canyon before going anywhere else, and I'd hate to miss my discount!

In the past you could only pick up the verifiction at the Epcot Guest Services location.

Now it appears that any Guest Services can help.

Lobby Concierge is not the same as Guest Services as far as I understand.

Guest Services is at your resort.

Guest Relations can be found at the theme parks and Downtown Disney. Yes, there is a difference.

You can only order your DDE card by calling the Disney Dining Experience Office. They will mail you a permanent one. They will also print out a temporary card and deliver it to the Epcot Guest Relations outside window. That is the only place to pick up a card, and the DDE is the only office that can print it. Any Guest Services of Guest Relations host or hostess should be able to provide you with the phone number for DDE. They are open weekdays from 9-5.

Doesnt seem like that's the way it's going to be after Nov 12th...

New Disney Dining Experience

Purchase Policy

Beginning on November 12, the Disney Dining Experience card can be purchased at a Disney Guest Service location. Annual Passholders and/or Florida Residents will need to provide proof of eligibility. Note that Disney Dining Experience membership requires that you be age 21 or older.

My DH works front desk/lobby concierge at ASSports and has not heard any info on this yet. He is going to ask his manager tomorrow.

Great!! Make sure to let us know!! If this works like it reads that will be soooo much nicer. It seemed wierd that just about everything else pass / ticket / whatever wise could be taken care of just about anywhere.... but this :).

:thumbsup2 :cool1: :lmao:

I'm confused. Guest Services...Guest Relations...Why won't they just let you do everything from either the Concierge Desk or the Front Desk at your resort. Granted, not everyone stays at a WDW resort, but it would make things a lot easier for the people who do stay onsite. You can't believe what I went through on my last visit just to upgrade my PHP to AP's. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing. Argh!

Annual passes can't be purchased nor AP vouchers redeemed in the hotels...just at Guest Services/Relations at the parks and DTD. Since either an AP or FL residency is a requirement for DDE, this makes sense to me. In the past when only FL residents could purchase DDE, mailing it to a FL address probably ensured that the DDE purchaser was actually a FL resident.

Anyway, the folks who handle tickets and passes at the parks are experts in those. The CMs in the resorts have lots of other things to deal with..roooms, hotel restaurants, etc..

Many moon ago...there used to be a Guest Relations desk in every resort and they handled all the ticket purchases/upgrades and dining reservations. Then they consolidated some of those functions into the front desk jobs and the concierge (where available). I think the tasks that were likely to take the longest -- due to explanations, cost comparisons, ticket problems -- were shuffled off to Guest Relations at the parks and DTD. I'm sure the purpose was to make the check-in process faster and send the hard questions to specialists trained for it.

Eeyore's Pal, I remember that too. It actually doesn't seem that long ago to me!:rotfl: But those CMs didn't handle APs any more than the current lobby concierge CMs do. We always had to buy APs in the parks or over the phone.

When I worked guest services at the Beach Club and then the All Stars way back when and we sold the paper tickets, we also sold the vouchers for the annual and seasonal passes. You then had to take the voucher to the park guest relations to activate it.

That must have been before our AP days then. We just started getting APs in the mid 90s. Were the vouchers the plastic credit card type?

By paper tickets do you mean the old a-e tickets? I thought those were long gone before All Stars opened. In fact, I think we only had those on our very first family trip in 1980.

The pp probably means the paper tickets that had to be manually stamped with your entry date as you went through the turnstiles. This was at the beginning of the all inclusive tickets (after the A-E tickets), but before the magnetic stripe tickets. At that time, our AP's were laminated paper, like a driver's license, with our photo and a bar code on them. It took a long time to get an AP or renewal at that time, because there were so few places on property with the equipment to make them. It always felt odd, because you would go to the guest relations window, and then it was like you gave them some secret code, and were escorted behind the scenes through an unmarked door to the room where the passes were done.

Ok now I'm confused. I literally just got off the phone w/ DDE and was asking about delivery time b/c we are leaving in 5 weeks. She said if I do not get my card I can pick up a temp at Epcot guest relations. I'm still on the fence about ordering the card before this trip and don't know if I could make it to Epcot guest relations before my ADR. So if I'm reading this correctly I can pick up the 'temp' card at any park guest relations?

Reading the release that WDWINFO has, it appears that after Nov 12th, you can go to any of the park guest relations / services whatever and get your DDE card. It doesnt appear that you'll need to call the DDE office anymore, or at least I hope that's what it means..

Ah, thanks. I do remember that kind of pass as well now that you mention the stamp.:goodvibes

Yes, we never had photo APs although I knew someone who used to get them every year. DL still uses them.
