My DH wants to check out a store in St. Cloud when we are in WDW. We're staying at Buena Vista Suites and won't have a car. Does anybody have any idea what the general taxi rates are? I know that it's roughly 30 miles one way.

I'd really rather not take time out of my vacation to go shopping for his hunting supplies. As slow as he can be shopping I can figure at least an hour at the store. If he has the taxi wait it's going to cost a fortune!

That's going to be an expensive cab ride.

He won't need to have the taxi wait... generally, he can either schedule a pick up time with the driver, or the driver can call the dispatch, and get someone else to pick him up.

But either way, I'm guessing it's going to be at least $50 each way, if not a lot more. He might be able to negotiate with the driver for a flat rate, too. *shrug*

You can always call Mears, and ask them for an estimate. They operate Checker Cab, which are the cabs that pick up at Disney. The number is 407-422-2222. (They'll answer as Yellow Cab. Mears operates Checker, Yellow, Safety, and City cab... depending on zoning, it might be a different cab company that has to pick him up, but Mears can arrange that all.)

Thanks Tyler - He's determined to go check out this manufacturer and it's driving me nuts. We only will have 2 full days at WDW prior to our cruise and looking at rifles (that he may or may not buy) is not how I planned to spend my time!

Rent a car. You might call the company and find out if they're near a lnyx (public bus) stop. If he buys much he may at least need a cab to return.

Make sure he'll be able to take any rifles he buys on the cruise and back on the plane.

I'm sure he won't be able to take any guns on the cruise! He'll have to ship anything he buys home. I don't mind him looking at the guns so much as we only have 2 full days at WDW and this side trip will take at least 1/2 a day if not longer...

It looks like maybe doing a one day rental compact car would be the cheapest. I see Alamo has a desk at the Dolphin - so it would be easy to do...

Thanks again for the replies!

Most every rental car company in the area has a shuttle service, so they can pick you up. I know I've seen Alamo/National, Hertz, Thrify, Dollar, Enterprise, maybe another.
