In the 2008 DDP FAQ thread, it says that you can get the DDP without purchasing park tickets if you are staying at a DVC resort. I just wanted to know if anyone could verify/clarify this for me. We have non-expiring tix leftover from our last trip. We are not DVC members. If we book at a DVC resort, can we get the DDP then and use our existing tickets? Hope this makes sense. Thanks :)

Fabulous :) I was trying to find a loophole so we didn't have to get tix :) Thanks.

Two conditions, though: First, YOU can't order the DDP - the person from whom you're renting points has to do that; Member Services won't/can't talk to non-DVC members (on the other hand, you don't pay for the DDP until you check in at the resort); and, you need to arrange at least five (or three, depending who you talk to) days before arrival. My advice - since it has to be added via an intermediary, do it as FAR in advance as possible.

I was told we can add it 48 hours prior - staying DVC - and reservations are turned over to the resorts at 48 hour mark. :confused3

Yes absolutely can do that.

We are staying at SSR for one night between our timeshare weeks. We are renting directly from Disney. So does this mean I can add the DDP for the one night we are at SSR? I was never offered the DDP when I made the reservation.

I think there may be some confusion here. It isn't just staying in a DVC villa that makes the difference; it's how that villa is being reserved and paid for.

Only DVC Member Services can add the DDP to a DVC villa as a stand-alone (non-package) item. This is only an option if you are a DVC member using points for the stay, or are someone renting a reservation from a DVC member. (DVC Member Services will only speak with the member. The member will have to make the reservation and request the DDP for you. You'll pay the amount you negotiated for the room to the member, but will pay for the DDP directly to Disney when you check in.)

If you are booking a stay in a DVC villa through a travel agent, the Disney World web site, or through the Central Reservation Office phone number, you'll have the same requirements for DDP to be part of a full Magic Your Way Package. You will not be able to add it separately.

(On a related note, DVC members who use their points to stay at a Disney Collection Resort like the Poly or Contemporary may now add the DDP to that reservation as well. This is a new perk that just started this week.)

If you want to add DDP to a CASH reservation at a DVC resort, you cannot do it unless you also add tickets and make it a package reservation.

If you are booked at a DVC resort ON POINTS (your own, or renting from a member) you can add DDP without purchasing tickets.

DVC on points allows the DDP to be added. DVC resorts paid cash have to have the MYW package just as at any other resort paying cash

Sorry!

Thank you for the added clarification. I had planned to try and rent points since it is more cost effective, but thank you for pointing out that it is necessary to do so in order to add the DDP. :)
