Hi guys, ok the latest place on our list to stay at is the CR. I've always wanted to stay there and DH is now leaning towards it. We thought the South Garden wing would be a good choice for us. Can anyone tell me about it, or do you think the North wing better. We have two kids and a tower room makes us too nervous right now especially with DS. Thanks for any info.

s&k'smom,
We've only stayed in the south wing one time when DS was really little (we have stayed in the north wing about 5 times and the tower 3 times). At that time, we would typically have someone go to the snack bar to pick up french toast sticks (or whatever :) ) for breakfast while the rest of the family was getting ready. (Now that DS is older, we like to sit down for breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse --so, it probably wouldn't be as big of a consideration for us, now).
Anyway, my recollection is that it was a pretty healthy hike to the snack bar--no matter where your room was located from the south wing. (It can be a pretty hefty hike from certain room locations in the north wing, too).
I don't know if you would even consider walking over to the MK--but it is a bit closer from the North wing.

The south wing is closer to the pool.
We love the CR--it is the first resort in which we stayed at WDW, so we have some very fond memories. We have stayed in Bay Lake view rooms (which tend to be quiet, but far away from the tower in either wing) in which you can see the Electric Water Pagent from your room. When DS was 2 years old, he used to be so exhausted from the park experience, but he would not go to sleep until he watched the Pagent each night (at 10:05pm)!

Thank you dcfromva. I know DH loves the waterview from the CR and we plan to get snacks for the room as DS is the pickiest eater ever created. It's just one of those places we have always wanted to stay and we do spend a lot of time at the WDW hotels when we go. thanks again, nothing I like more than researching and planning our next trip!

We stayed at the Contemporary South Wing, in a Bay Lake view room and LOVED it! We had a view of the lake, with all of the water fowl cavorting on the shores. Also, we could lie in bed at night and watch the Electrical Water Pageant. It was absolutely magical! Honestly, I think we were probably happier there than we would have been in the Tower! We didn't think that the walk to the Tower was bad, at all... no more than 3-5 minutes, depending on if you used the elevators or cut across the beach. We thought that the transportation from CR was some of the best that WDW has to offer, and we loved being able to walk to the MK!

We've stayed in both wings and prefer the south one. It felt a lot closer to everything, it was especially nice being right near the pool area.

Oh you guys Rock. Thanks for the replys. I know DH really wants to stay there and I'll begin my search for a good rate in the spring. We plan to go next Nov. 04. I think my kids will love it too! I think DH really wants to be near the arcade;)

Keep in mind that the South Garden Wing is smoking optional.

And there isn't all that much that's REALLY far away. Heck, you can walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary Resort!!

Have a great time!!

Actually, only part is. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking Bay Lake, and that floor, as well as the 2nd floor were both non smoking. Only the 1st floor with the patios were smoking optional. We never caught even the slightest hint of smoke, and since I am very allergic, I tend to notice things like that.

Thanks eeyore0062-

My DH is allergic to smoke- and when I'd asked where NOT to request a room I was told not to request the South Garden Wing.

I like the upper floors better anyway!! ;)

Thank you for that note. I had the weirdest dream that we were staying their last night. Must be fate. DH is getting excited about next year, must be the upcoming winter putting us in the mood for a Florida vacation.
